🔥 5 tips for a better summer BBQ – farmers market style.

A great BBQ starts with great ingredients, and August is one of the best times of year to shop at your local farmers market.

🥩 1. Know where your meat comes from.
Pick up sausages, burgers, steaks and BBQ cuts directly from the farmers who reared the animals. You will find free-range, organic and higher-welfare options – and ask the farmer what’s particularly good for the grill.

Try @fosse_meadows @picksorganic @bagnellfarmmeats @boarstallmeats @marchhousefarm

🌽 2. Put August on the grill.
Courgettes, aubergines, peppers, sweetcorn and tomatoes are all brilliant over the coals. Shop what’s looking best that week and load your BBQ with seasonal colour and flavour.

Look out for produce from @wild_country_organics @tedsveg @brambletyefruitfarm @perrycourt.farm

🍅 3. Keep it fresh.
Balance smoky BBQ flavours with simple summer salads. Think British tomatoes with quick-pickled red onions and fresh herbs, crunchy cucumber salads or freshly dug potatoes tossed with a punchy dressing.

At our markets you will find @iowtomatoes @13acreorchard @westlandsuk

🌿 4. Upgrade the extras.
Fresh herbs, garlic, chillies and tomatoes can become chimichurri, salsa verde, marinades and relishes. And don’t forget a loaf of proper sourdough – brush with garlic and olive oil and toast it over the coals.

Find freshly baked bread from @oliviersbakery @breadbreadbakery @astonsbread @artisan_foods @flourstation @celticbakers

🍑 5. BBQ your pudding.
British plums are in season – halve them, grill until warm and caramelised and serve with yoghurt or cream and a drizzle of local honey.

Look out for seasonal fruit and honey from @chegworthvalley @fruitwayfarm @fivewaysfruitfarm @happybeesltd @buckfastbees and try the creamiest yoghurt ever from @brinkworth_dairy

We’ve tagged just a few of the brilliant producers who can help you build your BBQ. Check your local market to see who’s trading near you this weekend.

What’s your farmers market BBQ essential?

My Take on Yemeni Eggs 🍳✨

This is my twist on Yemeni eggs, served on toasted @flourstation sourdough bread with creamy @philadelphia_uki cream cheese ..It’s packed with flavour, comes together in around 10 minutes, and honestly tasted amazing!

Ingredients

* 10–12 cherry tomatoes (or 2 medium tomatoes)
* 1 tsp desi ghee
* ½ tsp minced garlic
* 3 eggs
* 2 slices sourdough bread
* Philadelphia cream cheese
* Fresh coriander

Spices

* 1 tsp paprika
* ½ tsp coriander powder
* ½ tsp cumin powder
* ¼ tsp black pepper
* ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

Method

1. Heat the desi ghee and add the halved cherry tomatoes. Cook until soft, then peel and discard the skins.
2. Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.
3. Stir in all the spices with a splash of water and cook until fragrant.
4. Whisk the eggs, pour them into the masala, mix gently, then cover and cook on low heat for 2–3 minutes. Keep them soft and fluffy—don’t overcook.
5. Toast the sourdough and spread a generous layer of Philadelphia cream cheese.
6. Top with the eggs, finish with fresh coriander, and add chopped green chillies or chilli flakes if you like a bit of heat.

Honestly, this combination was incredible. Give it a try and let me know in the comments how it turns out! 🤍. #breakfastideas #sourdoughbread #easyrecipes #foodreels #homecooking

Big love to our community 💚 and everyone who supports us 💚

From shared meals to shared moments, everything we do starts with people. We’re proud to be a community hub where food brings us together, friendships grow, and everyone’s welcome at the table.

Huge thanks to Food Bank Aid and The Felix Project for keeping our shelves stocked each week, and to Carnevale and The Flour Station for additional support.

And to every team that’s come to cook with us, for providing the income that goes straight back into our community programmes, helping make spaces like this and our community kitchen possible.

Thank you for being part of it.

One of the great benefits of being a chef or stallholder at Borough Market is being able to source ingredients from some of the country’s finest food suppliers, all under the same roof. 🥩🌽 @tmorrissyswan set out to discover how these mutually supportive supply chains work.
