someone asked me last night “why wouldn’t everybody do this?”

Solar is only meant to produce a certain amount of kilowatt hours annually. Make sure when someone is sizing your system that they match it to the kilowatt hour consumption on your electric bill and if you’re planning on increasing your usage in the future, you might want to plan for that when you get the solar panels installed to avoid having to add in the future

some homes are limited by Roof space or how much the panels are able to produce depending on Sun hours a lot of East Coast homes can sometimes get 80% off simply because of the Roof space and high amounts of usage

here’s the honest answer

when borrowing costs go up, companies that are undercapitalized start to feel it. smaller installers are going to have a harder time staying competitive and staying solvent. that is just the reality.

the companies that built strong financial foundations before this moment are the ones that come out the other side. and the ones that didn’t, won’t.

it matters who you go solar with. not just today but in year 5, year 10, year 15 when you need something.

okay so i found out something about california’s power grid and now you have to know about it too 😭

basically after the 2020 blackouts the state kept some old backup power plants running as like... a security blanket for the grid

that security blanket expires december 31st of this year. and there’s no clear plan yet for what replaces it.

meanwhile everyone is getting electric cars, ai is using a wild amount of power, and we’re all using way more electricity than ever before

so. remove the backup. add more demand. hope next summer isn’t too hot. that’s kind of the plan rn

in 2022 california literally texted 27 million people asking them to turn off their AC or risk a statewide blackout. and that was WITH the backup plants still running.

next summer they won’t be there 🙂
