The last time I went to a commercial class, I ended up crying and sitting in the corner, hoping the anxiety would go away. It didn’t. I walked out thinking, this style is not for me. I’m not good enough, confident enough, I can’t move the way the girls in the front row do. My inner critic was so loud I couldn’t see myself ever trying again.

Two years later, I spontaneously decided to give it another shot—this time with a different mindset:

If you are in the room, be in the room.

And who would have guessed? It was fun. I haven’t had this much fun moving my body in a long time. The best part is that my favorite moment of class was actually recorded—the exact moment I managed to stop thinking (a rare occurrence), and just move, feel, and enjoy.

Yep, this is one of those posts people use to talk about how “honored” and “blessed” they are, while hiding that they just wanted to share something they’re proud of. But honestly, is that such a bad thing after all?

4 Wochen Berlin, jeden Abend Social Dance am Spreeufer. Fazit: 300 Tänze. Jeder Tanz ein gemeinsames Gespräch. Ohne ein einziges Wort.

Manche Gespräche waren leicht und verspielt. Andere schüchtern, voller Vertrauen oder einfach still.
