A love letter to summer 2026 💌

Whether you joined us at Sunday Set, cheered on Canada in your Gastown United jersey or stopped to listen to the music on Gastown Thursday Nights, we wanted to share a big thank you. You've made this summer one for the books!

Right around the moment we were feeling nostalgic about our build of last year’s In/Tension — the central bar feature for @idsvancouver— we got an email from our friends Paul Koopman and Jessica Yarish (now with @on_architecture_inc ) letting us know it’s been shortlisted as part of the Top 50 list for the @dezeenawards_ in our region!

What a great reminder of a project that was just so fun to be part of. Congrats to the entire team that helped bring this one together - it took a village.

We’re looking forward to seeing this year’s STILL/Not Still by @synthesisdesign - early kudos to them for putting BC wood front and center and keeping timber top of mind.

See you in a few weeks!

Another Sunday Set in the books. 🎧🌸🎨🍦

This summer, Water Street transformed week after week. An open-air gallery. A flower market. A coffee-fuelled dance floor. A stage for storytelling and dancing for Squamish Nation. A Little Sundae dance battle. Even a runway for Gastown’s first-ever Powell Street fashion show.

Thank you to our incredible partners @public_disco, @flowerhouse.studios, @emm.creative, and to the artists, vendors, DJs and everyone who helped bring the streets to life.

Flower House Studios offers breathtaking floral designs and additional flower-centred services like strategy and consultation. This Vancouver-based practice involves both the Flower House Studio and the Lab. While the Lab nurtures community projects and drives research, the Studio creates floral designs for events, workshops, or display in local businesses like Touski. We spoke with Flower House founder Sydney Witoski to learn more.

Find the local business feature on our website.
