Imagínate detener el montón de sueños que tienes solo porque alguien viene y te dice:

—Estás loco. ¿Por qué te esmeras tanto?
Lo que le metes no lo vas a recuperar. ¿Quién te va a comprar esa camioneta?
Solo alguien que viaje por todo el mundo.
Aquí en Veracruz te será imposible.

¿Imposible?

Y justo por eso hice este proyecto: para alguien que le dé el uso que merece.

Muchos preguntaron por ella.
—¿Cuál es el precio?
—Eso es un sueño —respondían—. Aquí buscamos camionetas para trabajar, no para vivir en ellas.
Tal vez tu posición geográfica sea el problema.

Pero apagar mis sueños nunca fue una opción.

Tener la visión clara es un modo de expresión. Es arte.

Hice la publicación y pasaron días, hasta que me escribió alguien, un gabacho.

—¿Me podrás pasar tu número para llamarte? —preguntó.
—Claro —le respondí.

El celular sonó.
—¿Che, qué pasa? Mi nombre es Eddy.
Estoy interesado en esa chata.
Caray, nunca había visto algo así por aquí cerca, solo en la Baja. ¿Cómo la hiciste? ¿La usaste para aventura?

Le expliqué que no, que al final decidí que sería un proyecto para alguien más.

—Está divina. Tratemos el precio.

Le envié mis referencias y Eddy me hizo una oferta.
—Lo voy a pensar con la almohada —le dije.

Al otro día acepté.
—Mañana mismo vuelo a Veracruz —me respondió.
—Aquí tienes tu casa —le contesté.

Lo fui a recoger al aeropuerto, y créanme: más allá de hacer un negocio, fue abrirle las puertas a un nuevo amigo y seguir construyendo un camino que me lleva a donde quiero llegar.

Gracias, Eddy, por la confianza y por llevarte un proyecto hecho con agallas y corazón.

I should just caption this, “We had a go at a few of these in the front yard today - all time!” and leave it at that. But continue on for the full swing. Swell of the season started the morning with over wash coming into the yard and one friend’s board getting swept away and bashed into a tree. Another snapped a board during a clean up set and then lost the backup to the lagoon on a failed attempt. The next in line caught lickings including a bloody skull getting dragged across the reef (he went right back out). And I got a nice reef and lagoon tour and 6 on the head after my leash ripped off my ankle in a closeout. Later in the day our panga rolled at anchor in front of the house in the huge shore womp, losing the motor and we had to cut the stabilizers free to the river-like current to get it back over. Mother Ocean’s daily give and take. Barrels were had by all. We are still grinning like fools. Basically, “all time day”.

Got back on the road again after a few months in Southern CA / North Baja. The ocean went flat for the last few weeks of July, so was waiting it out until finally a swell popped up on the radar just in time, and so the Baja mission and final van trip lined up, all systems go. Plan is to sell the van in Cabo and to continue traveling southbound, reaching Argentina (home) by December. Daunting task to think about posting fotos from the last week in baja, which literally blew my mind. My first full Baja drive from tip to tip, more to come! Here’s to getting lost amongst the cacti

Natural “high” last week, above the clouds trekking with @color.music.love I’ve been coming to this part of Baja for years and only just now found this magnificent hike. Good call @adventuresofjefe for discovering this gem!
