A very unglamorous little reminder that managing depression doesn't always look like a complete life transformation. 🫠

Sometimes it's taking your meds, getting yourself to the gym, listening to an audiobook instead of letting your brain bully you, doing your skincare, mowing the lawns, paying the parking ticket you've been avoiding, and enrolling in the last two papers of your degree even when your brain would really prefer to simply ✨ not ✨.

None of these things cured my depression. I'm not suddenly thriving, and I'm definitely not about to sell you a 5am morning routine.

But I'm learning that looking after myself doesn't have to be aesthetic, expensive or impressive to count.

Sometimes self-care is just doing the boring, uncomfortable, everyday things that make life a little easier for future me.

No glow-up montage. No becoming a whole new woman overnight. Just me, trying to take care of the woman I'm already becoming. 🤎

Baby dolls, If you're managing depression, too, I hope you give yourself credit for the little things. They count, even when nobody else sees them.
