This set is another stray away from my typical straight forward crimp rigs. Some little demons might be able to break it, but I don’t think it makes it easier. Tried to keep the difficulty and quality consistent with the classic 10’s.

Have fun and don’t forget to pick up the new drop from @groundfallcoffee “Crown Jewel”

Back to setting again I think. Here is a fresh offering. First go challenge for @goatybeef

Feeling healthy again after a tweaky couple weeks. I had an amazing time in Tahoe recently and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

Mark your calendars to join us at Duck Foot Brewing Miramar on Monday, September 28! 🍻 We are changing things up this time and are thrilled to welcome legendary climber Mark Hudon as a special guest speaker.

Join us for his talk: "Rich in Memories: A Lifetime of Climbing." From a terrified teenager in Yosemite in 1974 to still climbing El Cap today, Mark is bringing an unforgettable evening of stories, rare photos, laughter, and reflections on 50 years of adventure.

The schedule for the evening:
👋 6:00 PM (or earlier): Arrive to mix and mingle with local climbers and advocates over a beverage of your choice!
🎤 6:15 PM: Guest presentation by Mark Hudon.
📋 7:00 PM: Shortened community meeting to hear the newest updates about San Diego rock climbing access from us.

You may laugh, you may cry, and you’ll almost certainly want to go climbing after this one. (As always, we will share meeting notes after the event!)

See you there! 🤝

On the mend.
Feeling decent again.
I was tired today and didn’t feel too good, but I still felt strong on the wall. Getting back to form after hurting the back again. I feel as though every time I hurt my back I come back stronger. Keep your head up and keep pushing.
Bottled wine for the first time in excellent company yesterday and am feeling the effects in an 85 degree gym.

I’ve kept a habit of knocking out the 10’s and 11’s as they come into the app. This one is excellent. Set by Ali_D.

“Daim” at 45 on the kilter board, 3rd go. Dont mind the grade it must be a glitch. Even with the no toe hook no high foot beta, this thing is v9 max. Fun climb tho i want to do it with a harder finish

Climbing never gets any “easier”, the climber gets better.
I’ve found experience, approach, and tactics have meant a world of difference in the results I’ve been finding.
The experience to understand the questions posed by the climbing. Listening and feeling what comes. The approach to take them as they are, without bias or negativity. To learn and grow as the process unfolds naturally like a flower blooming. The tactics to apply the tools at my disposal most efficiently. Building with purpose and intention.
By doing this I’ve found that I’ve not wholly made the process any easier, but have made myself sharper. The rate at which I execute things has seen a stark increase. What once took me a session or two now takes an attempt or two. Today I tried some new climbs for the first time and saw results I’ve become almost accustomed to lately and I’m very happy with how far I’ve come. A few proud flashes and 2nd goes in the double digits.
Decent tactics today. Room for improvement as always.

Anyway here’s me using my strength to climb something poorly.

Daydreaming
Found myself a project I’m highly motivated to work. It centers around small holds, tension, and a difficult finish. It suits my frame and skill set nicely. Something I find to be a rarity in climbing. I’ve caught myself fixated on the climb for hours at a time. Thoughts branching out, finding connection. This feeling is always so exciting and encompassing. There is a beauty in dedicating yourself to that which draws you in. It’s nice to find myself compelled to do so.

Running through my old sets again for some decent volume on the wood while my ankle heals up. Here’s one that’s not too hard, but climbs quite nice.

Back to the 40°, this time with another original set that I named after an axe from my fantasy world I write about. Yes, I am also a big nerd who likes to write about dragons and stuff.

Here is the shortened summary of the item from my Google Docs encyclopedia of “The Shattered Lands of Berra.”

The Enthand is a greataxe consisting of a Silverbark Blade and a handle made from the hand of the ent Rora. Rora had the Axe made for the legendary barbarian Mathala Rootfolk during her companions’ defense of the first tree against the summoned forces of Nesmir. The Enthand is currently in the possession of a Warrior named Yormarr . Yomarr is currently under the employ of Duchess Ferrington and is rumored to carry out a variety of questionable tasks for the Duchess.

The Enthand is a unique marriage of materials that offers durability and refinement is an extraordinarily deadly package. Silverbarks natural qualities are enhanced by the magic or Rora’s hand. It has a few remarkable qualities, foremost of which is its ability to recall to the owner. The axe is also particularly deadly to things not of this world. Its ent flesh handle’s roots can grapple targets. It can also produce a blinding flash, handy in a pinch or when outnumbered.

Spent this sesh repeating some sets while my ankle heals. Next week it’s back to our regularly scheduled training.
