On the weekend I took @nicolle.paterson and my stepdaughter Skye out for a wee scouting mission on a local river…. I had previously been out on the lawn with her teaching her the cast and how to ‘play fish’ so when the opportunity of the perfect trout came about she was ALL OVER it…! Couldn’t have worked out better and my cup is sooo full..!!!!! Thanks Nicolle for capturing a very special moment for us both.

Another cracker opening trip fish…!
Scouting another section of a river I’ve fished for many years but have never done before..! Was an awesome time exploring and finding fish… or not..!
Early season is always a great time out on the water, less anglers and hungry trout… what’s better..!?

Turns out my favourite colours are purple and gold..!
Opening was filled with many things… exploring new waters, rock climbing, bush whacking, deep wading, getting bluffed out, gorged out and relocating..!
Still awesome to check out new waters and break the ice that the new season brings..!

Some select spaces available for the season so if your interested in exploring South Island with me then get in touch..!

Jan couldn’t even see the fish…. I wouldn’t let him get to close to the bank…. We had to be xtra stealthy. He just trusted me and listened perfectly… an awesome fish came to the net..! By memory… I was too scared to jump in there so Jon had to step up… 😂😂
