Sausalito Pride Night 2: ☑️

Pride & Expression gave us space to slow down, listen, reflect, and connect with our community. We were absolutely blown away by the turnout and the energy in the room and it was powerful way to close out Sausalito Pride weekend. 💖

A huge thank you to our incredible panelists for sharing your stories with honesty and heart, you all set the tone for a meaningful and memorable evening. And a big thanks to @sausalitobooks for curating our LGBTQ+ literature display and to the @sausalito_center_for_the_arts for generously hosting us in their beautiful space.

Swipe through for a few moments that captured the night… and stay tuned for updates on our rescheduled Tea by the Sea!🪩

We’re not done celebrating yet!!!

The Bay Area Fine Arts & Crafts exhibition at the Sausalito Center for the Arts ends tomorrow —Sunday, April 6 —closing reception from 3-5. It’s been a fantastic journey to be able to show ‘The Chairs of Sausalito’ along with a group of great artists. A larger collection of 14 will be on display at our local Firehouse Coffee (317 Johnson, Sausalito) this summer. #sausalitocenterforthearts #sausalitophotographer #firehousecoffeesausalito #sausalitobeautiful #

At this special program in honor of Sausalito Pride, architect and historian Joel Karr will share his research into Sausalito’s remarkably deep and extensive LGBTQ+ history. Most longtime residents don’t know that in the late fifties and early sixties there were no fewer than eight LGBTQ+ bars in Sausalito, along with a multitude of other gathering places for gays and lesbians. Notable LGBTQ+ Sausalitans include tennis player Rosie Casals, beloved local postman Bernie Feeney, and bar owner Peggy Tolk-Watkins. Joel plans to turn his research into a book.

Sausalito’s Surprising and Amazing Gay History is jointly sponsored by the Sausalito Library, Sausalito Pride, and the Sausalito Historical Society. RSVP at https://www.sausalitolibrary.org/programs/sausalito-s-surprising-and-amazing-gay-history
