It's our pleasure to announce the FOLKLORE BRIDGES contract next Friday, 11th of February, at 7pm in Oud house in Cairo.

THE FOLKLORE BRIDGES RESIDENCY
A cross-cultural music residency, uniting musicians from Egypt and Jordan. The program aims for equal chance cultural exchange, where musicians can co-create folklore fusions to be shared in a concert while forming new musical friendships beyond borders - all captured in a documentary film for heritage preservation.

THE MUSICIANS
Each musician hails from a different artistic background, yet both are strongly connected to their roots while active in contemporary music scenes. They’ve joined to explore cross-cultural music sounds from Jordan and Egypt in their own characteristic interpretations.

Mohamed Abo Zekry: Renowned oud virtuoso Mohamed Abo Zekry, celebrated for his unique music style and many versatile projects and collaborations around the world.
Ahmad Selawy: Ahmad has been gaining recognition for his gripping interpretations of folklore music from the Hauran plains region. The founder of Octave band plays 9 instruments with a focus on the bagpipe, ney, clarinet, yargoul and mijwiz.

THE FOLKLORE BRIDGES RESIDENCY implemented by @6babsharq (Alexandria, Egypt) and Abrez Music (Jordan) @abrezmusicjo

In partnership with DAR-House of Culture @darofarts
Dusk Sounds @dusk.sounds and Arab House of Oud
