Renée McGhee didn’t realize she was embarking on a life of crime when she started selling homemade food to friends and neighbors through an Oakland, California-based web platform called Josephine. The food-sharing startup connected home cooks who wanted to sell their food to hungry neighbors who wanted to buy it. Within two weeks of signing up, McGhee was serving $12 meals of lasagna, garlic bread, and salad to 11 community members, who picked up their meals at her doorstep and took them home. The next week, she served 16 people. Eventually, she set up bistro-style tables on her patio with white linens, flanked by tea stands stocked with lemonade and water for members to stay for dinner. And then, toward the end of 2016, two representatives from the Berkeley Environmental Health Department knocked on McGhee’s door and presented her with a cease and desist letter. Dish nummer two. A hommage to Karin Boye with the poem "BÅL". Filled wine leaves. A twist of dolmades Two different. One with Asian pulled oat protein, one with aubergine and black beans. Black rice. 3 different Pickled beets. Lemon and garlic green kale. Fried and pickled cucumber heart tahini sauce and marinated green beans.

Cucumber Hearts. Lets talk about them. U normally throw them away. Its just water. No taste. Mushy and seedy. We Did keep them. We pickled them over night and fried them in a squirt of oil. Wow. The texture, so bouncy. The conserved taste is so damn good. Cucumber Heart i from now on salut you.

Our appertif. Was served in a period cup. A Beetroot, ginger and lemon swirl. If u havent used a "Menskopp" before Its time. Its so good. This one is made by a new company in Malmö, owned by a awesome innovative women named Diana and is called @flowcup. For every purchased cup they donate one to an NGO in East Afrika who works with women rights. Thank u flowcup for the collab, and all the girls that purchased a cup before the dinner so i could give away cups to all who joined last night. Låt en kvinna få leva. Yesterday our Livingroom was filled up with 10 different women that never met before. Wow What a night! 3 courses. From 7 to late after midnight. Well. The First dish was just a really sweet n sour, rich peas soup with green Tea tapioka bubbles, hemp oil and a vinegar pitaya cream on top. It was served with the sound of a women giving birth and introduced with Edith Södergrans poem "vierge moderne".

Taking time to stop and smell the flowers... that fell off from the flower vase. 😂 Nonetheless, these to me smell like home! #🇧🇩 .

Back in Bangladesh marigold flowers were traditionally used to adorn brides and decorate wedding halls during the Bengali pre-wedding "holud" (turmeric/yellow) ceremony. People seem to use them less in Bangladeshi weddings these days, but I've always loved the faint, citrus-like scent and the bright orange and yellow hue of these flowers. They remind of the years I spent in Dhaka, of beautiful weddings and of "falgun", the Bengali celebration of spring. ❤️ .

I grabbed a big bunch of marigold flowers from @wholefoodsnyc last week to decorate the table for my Bangladeshi supper club dinner, and they are currently making me very happy. Flowers have such an incredibly uplifting power! On me at least. 😊 .
