New to Rosedale: @shayristorante 🍝

Chef Justin Friedlich spent nearly a decade at Buca, rising to chef de cuisine at Buca Yorkville, before opening this Italian spot named after his daughter, Shay.

It’s still early days, but the pastas were impressive and the beautifully designed dining room makes a lovely setting for a long dinner. A promising new addition to Toronto’s Italian restaurant scene.

A very sweet morning photographing a kids cooking class at @hackneyschooloffood community kitchen and garden for a piece on urban agriculture in London 🍽️

The day I visited the pupils were learning to make a ribollita and some (delicious looking) bread rolls. Sadly I had to leave before I could try them.

Last nights quick and easy dinner. Oscar (my 8 year old) made the Tomato Bruschetta - chopped, seasoned, toasted the sourdough and plated - I did the Honey Drizzle Salt & Pepper fried chicken thighs.

Simple and sooo tasty! If you'd like the recipe let me know ☺️

🇦🇲🇱🇧
Armenian food with Lebanese roots, and a Michelin Guide favourite for multiple years running. It’s a true family affair too: the Yacoubian brothers named it after their late mom and cook her recipes with a fine dining twist. @chefsebouh @talineto

What we ate:
🥟 Manti (Armenian dumplings)
🐑 Vochkhar (Ontario lamb chops with jajekh yogurt): INCREDIBLE.
🥬 Kaghamp (braised cabbage with fennel tahini): Do not skip!!!!
🥔 potatoes
🧀 Banru (a three cheese dip) with warm matnakash bread for scooping

Go hungry, go with friends, and order the lamb and the cabbage.

November 16-19
Four nights, four kitchens and four very different ways to see London through what’s on the plate and in the glass, each one limited to a small group of guests.

You never stop learning and while here in Sanur, Bali I had the opportunity to do a Balinese cooking class, learning how to make a selection of dishes, this one is Dadar Gulang. A traditional Indonesian dessert consisting of a thin flour pancake filled with grated coconut. The pancake batter is traditionally infused with pandan leaves which gives it a vanilla like flavour and its vibrant green colour.

Check out my maximum concentration face 😁

Thanks to Lira @sanur.cookingclass for being a great chef and teacher
