October, around here. 🍂

Golden hills along the way, coffee to go, little shops worth wandering into, cozy corners for a book or a nightcap, and a few good things from local bakeries.

A little wander through Sonoma and Mendocino counties, from Windsor through Healdsburg, Hopland and Ukiah, with dinner at Diavola in Geyserville on the way home.

Sometimes it’s nice to see the places you know so well with fresh eyes.

🏷️ Little places along the way, tagged in each photo.

I've been fortunate to photo nests in some amazing science collections. With the mission to document nests built by threatened to extinct species, I was finally granted permission to work in the collection of the NMNH (the Smithsonian). In 1899, A Henslow's Sparrow occupied these tall grasses outside of Falls Church West Virginia. @foragerhealdsburg has a curated collection of my nest photographs gracing their walls.

Sunday Fun Day!

I found the loveliest shop in Healdsburg, @foragerhealdsburg. New and old objects, side by side in a most exquisite setting. French floral linens, paired with small oil paintings, vintage glassware displayed with old books and, obviously, I found my natural habitat.
