Alas, the 5th Annual Pirate Invitational was a swashbuckling success! Every team gave an incredible performance from start to finish. Stevenson University claimed SPAMTA this weekend in a fiercely close contest, finishing the weekend with 28/30 ranks. With the top three teams all finishing 6–2, the final ranking was decided by CS. In third place sailed Fordham University, followed by New York University in second. And at last, Swarthmore College emerged with the first-place treasure!

This tournament would not have been possible without our outstanding crew, both on and off the stage. Thank you to our tournament director, Heather Torney; our assistant tournament director, Lizy Varela; our tab directors, Jaclyn Emm and Myles Einhorn; and our judging coordinator, Dillion Kantor. A huge thank you as well to our staff assistants, Giovanna Morano Teles and Jonathan Flores, and to our incredible tab runners across both days—David Gomez, Ren Darby, Deena Bashkhaz, Veronica David, Sydney Cortes, Bryan Rolzhausen, Evan Zimnes, and Sydney Grieshaber. We appreciate you all more than words can say!

Congratulations to all of the teams:

HO HO HO and happy holidays from the Binghamton Mock Trial Team!

This fall semester might have been one of the most successful yet for us, so let’s do a little recap of what happened. After preparing an absolute doozy of a case for less than a month, our team went off to compete at @dickinsoncollegemock Red Devil Sleeping Bow Tie Invitational where we got FIRST and THIRD!!! But that wasn’t enough for us because, just a few weeks later at @fordhamrhmock Sapientia Et Doctrina, we got FIRST and THIRD again (but swap the teams)! Let’s not forget about our C team though! Who, all new to competing, did an excellent job at our very own Binghamton Bearcat Invitational! Lastly, to end off the season, our A team got THIRD place at @bcmocktrial BOSTON MOCKATHON! It’s been a wild ride (and still continues to be!)

Before we end things off, we can’t forget to give a special applause to our OUTSTANDING witnesses and attorneys who excelled this season. Winning 11 awards in total, our competitors this year are some of the best-performing I’ve seen!

Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays and taking a well-deserved break - we’ll see you in the spring!

Our next Senior Spotlight goes to Malini, an extraordinary senior and a cornerstone of our organization. As one of the fearless Captains of our A-Team and UDMT’s Vice President for two consecutive years, Malini’s leadership has guided us through some of our most competitive seasons. While she is one of UDMT’s most decorated individual competitors, known for her sharp objections and persuasive arguments, it is her unwavering dedication and passion for Mock Trial that has truly set her apart. After four remarkable years with UDMT, we know that everything we do is with purpose.
