DJ DIRT MORNING BRIEFING — WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19

A lot moving across electronic music this morning, from a major sampling dispute to nightlife culture, international aid, and the launch of something completely new here at DJ DIRT.

BEYONCÉ FACES NEW “ALIEN SUPERSTAR” SAMPLE LAWSUIT

ADE + VIBELAB LAUNCH NIGHTTIME CULTURE INDEX

Amsterdam Dance Event and VibeLab are developing a global index designed to measure the cultural vitality of nightlife. The first edition is expected this October, bringing new attention to how cities understand, measure and value their nighttime culture.

AND TODAY, DJ DIRT INTRODUCES THE HYPE METER / DIRT SCORE.

This is a big one for us.

The new DJ DIRT Hype Meter tracks attention, momentum and cultural heat across electronic music, continuously ranking the artists, tracks, labels, events and places generating signal right now.

It isn’t another sales chart.

It’s an attempt to answer a much bigger question:

What is the electronic music world paying attention to RIGHT NOW?

The rankings update throughout the day, while the companion geographic view shows where that heat is developing around the world.

The Hype Meter is LIVE now at THEDJDIRT.COM/HYPE.HTML

Give us five minutes.
We’ll give you the world of electronic music.
