Skull valley records is proud to present:

Terry Telson ~ While In Exile

Recorded in the small mountain town of Prescott, Arizona in 1975, While In Exile served as Terry’s much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the early 70’s Chicago folk scene which he had been a part of. The clean mountain air and simple, down-to-earth lifestyle inspired Terry to write and record the entirety of the album himself in the solitude of his studio apartment.

With no distribution or promotion, the two-hundred original copies slowly crept into the recesses of Terry’s friends and fans collections, and sadly few remain today.

Available for the first time since 1975, Skull Valley Records is excited to announce an edition of 300 vinyl copies available for pre-sale exclusively on our Bandcamp!

Remastered audio by Greg Reireson at @rareformmastering is also streaming anywhere you listen to music!

Make sure to pick up your copy today, and stand by for more updates to come!

‘Forest Jams sticks close to recent original balearic/beach records like the Starving Daughters LP & Expositions EP with a 12″ by Simon Peter. Simon Peter has previously had his work showcased on labels such as Claremont 56, Aficionado, and Archeo Recordings, and now has two intimate, original balearic productions on the Forest Jams label. The B-Side of the record utilizes two remixes both from Japan. One from the duo Coastlines (Flower Records, Be With Records) with their signature down-tempo lush sound filled with beautiful piano work throughout and the other from newcomer Shu Suzuki who takes things on a non-stop psychedelic journey that’s both beautiful & mind-bending. Artwork by Ty Williams.’

An homage to two now gone #Arizona icons, a chunk of the Casa Grande Domes (RIP) and a dope old concert flyer for #ironbutterfly playing at Big Surf.
Two places that many of us have fond memories of.
Much like the “lost” and “forgotten” music we deal with, places like these need to be remembered, as both had their place in AZ culture and history.

Happy Friday! Skull Valley Records is excited to share with you one of our personal favorite Arizona “Real People” releases!

Frank Rodrigues & Neil Abbott ~ Spurs & Chaps

As #diy and #lofi as they come, Rodrigues and Abbott seemed to have recorded some of this tape outside, as the sounds of trains, birds and other wildlife and nestled between beautiful original #folk music and authentic #cowboypoetry creating an familiar “campfire” like ambience.

Simple, honest songs and stories about a lifestyle and culture that time has begun to claim

‘The next 12″ that Forest Jams proudly presents is the official re-issue of Nathalie Letertre’s ‘Rêveur’. The lush beauty of this French electronic synth-pop single was recorded in 1986 at R.B.O. Studios of which Titan Records was a connected label. Although the vinyl recording eluded many DJ’s and collectors of today, Nathalie and ‘Rêveur’ did enjoy local success at the time of its release. The popularity of ‘Rêveur’ upon its 1986 arrival could have been attributed to it’s airing on the “Free Radios” of post-1981 France and Nathalie’s several appearances on the regional ‘FR3’ TV Station and at the forest-encircled, emblematic ‘Châlet’ nightclub (1962-2010) in Strasbourg. This re-issue includes the original and instrumental versions transferred from the original tape as well as two fresh edits from the likes of Flemming Dalum & Spaziale.’

We have just a few copies of our first release, Chantli from @mazatzal.az

Limited to 50. Each cassette contains a small piece of amethyst sourced from the Mazatzal Wilderness, Arizona attached on the spine of the jewel case.

“Chantli is the Nahuatl word for dwelling place. This album intends to be an auditory exploration into the depths of ancient Aztec mysticism with focus on three esoteric symbols prevalent in Aztec society; Nahualli (The Shadow Soul), Tlotli (Birds / Ascension) and Huāccāīxtlāhuatl (Desert / Emergence)

Delve into these three ethereal atmospheres, each channeled to promote greater present moment awareness, and ultimately a closeness with ones own Chantli within.”

Feel free to DM directly to purchase one one of the last remaining copies. $15

Peace and love, and thank you for your continued support!

Skull Valley Records is proud to present our first
Forgotten Music Culture Mixtape!

https://youtu.be/uZlRCMRn3Uk

“The Sound of High Country” is a personally curated playlist of eleven rare and unknown 1970’s Long-haired
Country gems dug up throughout the United States.
Though very loosely defined, most 70’s “Long-haired” or “Hippie” Country music tends to blend many different styles together (Psychedelic Rock, Folk, even Funk) to create an easygoing, and “free” sound. Many of the artists and bands involved in this scene were also Free Spirited, an attitude that differed greatly from most
Country music fans of the 70’s.
Every artist you will hear in this mix released their music privately, sacrificing both their own time and money to release their songs. This determination and dedication furthermore displays the individuality and heart of the many musicians involved in this small, forgotten music scene.

Thank you so much for listening! Follow / subscribe for more music and culture preservation from Skull Valley Records!

@iasos_celestial_music appreciation post!
What better way to start your morning than with Iasos’ celestial harmonies. One of the early pioneers of the New Age genre, Iasos has continued to expanded the definition of New Age music since his first release in 1975. Much love and respect to a legend!
