SPORTS MOM MODE: ON.

The calendars are filling up. Back-to-back practices, games, carpools, homework, uniforms everywhere…and somehow the house is always a mess.

When sports season gets crazy, routine is everything. The little things you can do consistently every day make the busy weeks feel a little more manageable.

Pack the bag. Fill the water bottle. Grab the snacks. Take two BIGTIME gummies. Out the door.

Because sports mom mode is basically just organized chaos on repeat.

Back-to-school isn’t just about new schedules, new teachers and new sports seasons—it’s one of the best opportunities we have as parents to hit RESET on the habits that weren’t working.

I’m so honored to be a Medical Ambassador for @youthinc and today we’re talking about how sports families can use this natural reset to build healthier routines around sleep, nutrition, screen time and more.

As a pediatrician and sports mom, my biggest advice? Make your kids part of the process. Talk about what worked last year, what didn’t, and what they want to change. Then choose a few realistic goals and create an action plan together.

Because teaching our young athletes that they have the power to change their habits is bigger than any one season—it’s a skill they’ll carry with them on and off the field. 💪

Practices, games, tryouts, carpools, uniforms, snack duty…and somehow we’re supposed to remember ALL of it.

And then there’s that one thing on the calendar we never have to think twice about. 👀

It’s officially that time of year. ⚽️⚾️🏀🩰

Googling newborn bath questions at 2 a.m.?

You’re not alone 🛁🤍

As a pediatrician, bath time is one of the most common topics parents ask me about. In this video, I’m sharing a few simple tips on caring for the umbilical cord, choosing gentle products, and getting the water temperature just right.

Because bath time shouldn’t be another thing keeping you up at night.

Something many parents may not realize about eczema…
it often worsens overnight.

As a pediatrician, I see this pattern a lot—kids going to bed relatively comfortable and waking up more red, dry, and itchy.

There are a few reasons for this:

• The air tends to be drier at night → pulling moisture out of the skin
• Heat gets trapped in pajamas and blankets → increasing irritation
• Kids often scratch in their sleep → creating that itch → dryness cycle

So by morning, their skin is already more inflamed before the day even starts.

The good news—there are simple ways to help support their skin overnight:

✔️ Choose breathable pajamas (cotton over synthetic fabrics)

✔️ Keep the room cool and well-ventilated

✔️ Be mindful of your nighttime routine—what goes on their skin before bed really matters

Using gentle, eczema-friendly products—like those from @mustelausa —can help restore moisture and support the skin barrier overnight. Their Stelatopia line is specifically designed for eczema-prone skin and is one I often recommend for nighttime routines.

Even small changes can make a noticeable difference by morning!

Hills I will die on.

I taught my first swim lesson at age 18, have worked with kids- in some capacity- daily for my entire career, and am fortunate to have spent hundreds of days at pools, lakes, on boats and by the ocean with my own kids and all of their friends and cousins.

Over the last 20+ years, I have also had the privilege to observe hundreds of kids both at swim lessons and at playtime with their families by the pool

What humbles me most is that I keep learning new things about being safer around water.

Water safety is complex.

Keeping your kids safe requires a ton of critical thinking and the openness to pivot and evolve just as quickly as your children do.

Together we are making a difference.
