INCREDIBLE Massages. Sound bath. Champagne flowing. A stunning brunch-style charcuterie by @forkfulbigbear (still dreaming about those sriracha bacon deviled eggs and house-smoked salmon).

Finished with a heartfelt gift exchange and an ABUNDANCE of love. This team fills my cup in every way 🤍

Last week, the City proudly hosted its second annual State of the City Address at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center. The theme of this year’s event was "Celebrating 45 Years of Big Bear Lake". Attendees enjoyed complimentary refreshments and mingling with City Councilmembers and City staff at the reception, followed by a former mayors panel discussion.

In her opening remarks, Mayor Melnick reflected on the City’s journey, “As we celebrate 45 years of incorporation, I am reminded that our city’s history is still being written. Each of you... play a vital role in shaping who we are and who we will become. Big Bear Lake began with a dam and a vision. Today, it thrives because of the people who believe in it. And tomorrow, it will continue to grow because of the care, creativity, and community spirit that define us.”

The Mayor also spoke about the progress we've made this year, including:

• The Castle Rock Trailhead Parking Lot
• The Moonridge Road & Rathbun Drive Street Rehabilitation Project
• Continued investment in the Village
• The allocation of $150,000 in façade improvement grants
• Improving sewer infrastructure
• Hosting another successful Summer Concert Series
• The launch of a 24-hour online permitting system

During the panel discussion, the City honored the leaders who helped shape our city’s journey by skillfully navigating challenges, championing opportunities, and doing their part to make the city of Big Bear Lake a world-class destination that many people are proud to call home. Former mayors Norman W. Reinik (1988), Bill Jahn (2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2017), Rick Herrick (2008, 2009, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022), Dave Caretto (2015, 2016, 2021), and Randall Putz (2019, 2023) candidly shared their favorite memories and events, vital projects and initiatives, advice for future mayors, and emphasized the importance of building meaningful relationships in the community.

The City would like to thank everyone who attended, our vendors, former mayors, current city councilmembers, and our staff for making this event a success. Watch the recording of the 2025 State of the City Address on our official YouTube channel (link in bio).

The other night our guests hired a private chef @forkfulbigbear to make a special meal in our kitchen! How amazing is that? I wouldn’t mind a cozy meal at The Cozy Gambrel 😍

On 2/22/22 my longtime boyfriend (AKA baby daddy) eloped to Big Bear with our 2 daughters. The day wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing ladies behind the scenes at all of these wonderful, independently owned businesses:

Now that the world is “opening up” again, do you think picnics will still be a thing, or are we all going to gather at max capacity for every event?

I like an intimate gathering, but OH how I have missed big celebrations!! Looking forward to this wild and crazy BUSY wedding season. 🤍 #thankyoujesus
