On the occasion of DesignDays.Berlin, foldt partners with SKS, introducing one of the most intriguing products from the SKS lineup to the German market for the first time.
For a limited time, the foldt showroom will transform into an ephemeral bar setting, conceived in close collaboration with Berlin’s renowned Forma Gallery.
At the center of the installation is a bespoke iteration of foldt’s ff1 stainless steel kitchen system. Two modules form a deconstructed bar counter, housing a pair of SKS’s distinctive under-counter refrigerators.
Taking cues from Shiro Kuramata’s iconic Sushi Bar interior, the installation gently reinterprets the familiar codes of bar and hospitality interiors through the perspective of Vanessa Heepen of Forma Gallery.
Join us for a drink, experience the installation and products first-hand, and enjoy music selected by the wonderful Nalan and Amelie Kahl.

At @currents.berlin, @forma__gallery Explores Material Transformation with ‘Temper’

During the first edition of Currents Berlin, FORMA Gallery presents Temper, bringing @veronikajanovec’s ceramic sculptures into dialogue with the hand-knotted carpets of @jankathdesign.

Rather than seeking formal similarities, the exhibition begins with material transformation. Clay, wool and silk respond to pressure, heat, water and manipulation, acquiring their identities through processes that alter their surfaces, textures and structures. The title Temper reflects this condition: the search for a new balance between different elements, but also the character that emerges through change.

In Janovec’s Nests, Winged and Armour series, ceramic forms fold, crack and open, moving between protection and exposure, weight and flight. Fire becomes part of the making process, leaving visible traces without destroying the material. Jan Kath Design similarly approaches the surface as a site of transformation, combining centuries-old hand-knotting techniques with wool and silk to move the carpet beyond its conventional functional role.

Founded by spatial designer and curator Vanessa Heepen, FORMA Gallery operates precisely within these shifting territories. At Temper, sculpture, design and craft are not treated as fixed categories, but as practices connected through material, time and making.

Berlin’s design scene is opening its doors for the first edition of @currents.berlin.

From September 10–12, studios, galleries, brands and independent designers across the city become part of a programme that reflects just how broad and diverse Berlin’s design landscape has become.
