When teaching the exercise Long Stretch, I begin by breaking down a plank position first to build confidence on the reformer and help clients understand how to support their body weight in this position. It’s a great way to focus on core strength, grip strength, shoulder stability, and the body awareness needed for the exercise. Once they feel comfortable in a plank, adding the choreography becomes much easier. Instructors, how do you teach Long Stretch?

How are other instructors teaching Swan on the reformer? What is your main focus, is it shoulder flexion, shoulder stability, spinal extension, abdominal stretch? I typically teach Swan as more of a belly and hip stretch. What about you? Let me know in the comments below 💚
