Regards Hybrides (@regardshybrides) and FORM (@formvancouver) are partnering to feature two films each month from each of our collections!

👉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 is a screendance work by Vickie Grondin (@vickie.gr), produced in 2023. During his daily picking, Bo has a moving encounter that reveals other existences to him. A hybrid story between a narrative and dance short film, questioning our relationship with the living.

👉 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 & 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥: 𝐒.𝟏𝟐 𝐄.𝟏𝟎 by Patrick Blenkarn (@patrickblenkarn) & Lily Ross-Millard was collectively devised by its directors, sound designers, and performers. The foundation of its creation was a movement-based exploration of a red apartment. Through this process, the space transformed into a place of entrapment and stagnancy: we watch as two bodies—resilient in their movement—endure the oppressive stillness of the room.

My experimental dance film "Shadowplay" from @formvancouver 2024 is now available on Youtube. Link is in my bio.

I first had the story idea when I witnessed major shifts in the tech market as corporate dominance grew rampant three years ago. To interpret the theme of control through movement, shadow puppetry was the first thing that came to mind.

Little did I know that this idea I had is still relevant today, and the trend that sparked it has grown rapidly and manifested everywhere over time. So I hope this piece can resonate with the audience since it not only documented my first step in exploring filmmaking and generative art, but it also shared a narrative that our self-images are being used as a tool for mass manipulation in a world filled with narcissism and greed. Individuality should celebrate us as humans, not cogs in a corporate machine.

Thank you to all the collaborators, @formvancouver @cineworksvan @vivomediaarts @bcmovementarts
for your extensive support in this project.

Autism Acceptance Month is always a good time to enjoy some positive media by and for the ND community!
Two years on from its production, Autistic Joy has been selected for 10 film festivals (and counting!), been featured on podcasts, and shown at the Arnolfini and Focal Point Gallery.
You can watch it on YouTube via the link pinned in the comments, or my Autistic Joy highlight.
Autistic Joy was written by and produced by an autistic woman. We also worked with a local autism charity, a focus group of 10 autistic peers, and had a primarily neurodivergent cast and crew. At our launch screening, we championed 3 other autistic poets.

We’re excited that 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 and 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌 (@formvancouver) are partnering to feature two films each month from each of our collections. From Regard Hybrides, they will feature a film from their online collection, and from FORM, they will feature a film from their collection of commissioned films from the past 9 years. This collaboration is an effort to uplift and celebrate screendance/dance film works throughout the year from artists across Canada.

This month, watch 𝘉𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘢 (2018) by Marlene Millar (@millarmarlene) and Philip Szporer (@philipszporer), which evokes facets of Shiva, the Lord of Dance, as both the destroyer of evil and the guardian of time; and 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘢 (2021) by Siam Obrègon (@sea.am.siam) and Kyana Lynne (@kyanalyne), a solo in which dance, water, sand, and wind come together at dusk, as the moon slowly appears.
