The solutions to the hardest problems in our country are rarely short on money. They are short on people who know how to build. Most of them look like a broken system, the kind any founder would recognize on sight. In some states, certifying a single foster family takes nine months or longer while kids wait for a home. Organizations that should be working together run in silos. Momentum resets every time leadership changes. Builders untangle that kind of thing for a living. We shorten cycles, fix handoffs, and get people who have never worked together into the same room. Scripture pairs our praise with doing good and calls both a sacrifice that pleases God. Most of us bring the first to church every week, while the skills God gave us for the second stay pointed at our own companies. The gifts that build our businesses were given for that second sacrifice too.

Chris Tomlin @christomlin dreamed about a baby lying alone in a street and did nothing with it for years, until his pastor asked if he had ever thought about foster care. In 2019 he founded @forothers. Follow Solving Foster Care Crisis.

Chris Tomlin dreamed he forgot his own concert. He was racing to the stadium. He could hear the band already playing. Then, at the intersection, he saw a baby lying in the street. Abandoned. Screaming. "How do I go do this concert and leave this baby?" He got out of the car and picked up the child. Then he woke up. He didn't act on it for years. He didn't have kids yet and had no idea what it meant. Then he moved to Nashville and launched a Good Friday concert, deciding to give away every dollar of profit. It became the largest Christian concert in the city's history. He didn't know where to give the money. His pastor asked if he'd ever thought about foster care. In the dream, he had to choose between the stage and the child. In real life, the stage became how he reached the child. That night became For Others, now working alongside governors and state leaders to end the foster care crisis in America.

400,000 kids in foster care in a given year. Approximately 400,000 churches in America. Chris Tomlin saw those two numbers side by side and couldn't unsee them. "Who am I in front of every night? The church." So he started talking about it on tour, city by city. That microphone became For Others, a team now sitting with governors and state child welfare leaders to help proven organizations scale across the country. He never set out to build a foster care agency. He used the room he was already standing in. Chris's full conversation with Justin Forman is live on the Faith Driven Entrepreneur Podcast. His son did not leave a children's hospital for fifteen months. So he started counting the rooms with nobody in them. Chad Spencer, chairman of the board at @forothers. Watch to the end. He does not ask the question about the dark rooms. He asks it about his own son. Follow Solving Foster Care Crisis.

"We can throw all the money in the world at a problem, but if you don't have people who care to step up and wrap around these families, you're just going to repeat the cycle." – Deb Wyatt, Executive Director, For Others There are 328,000 children in foster care in the United States right now. 62% of them didn't need to be there. The causes were preventable. The system that was supposed to help them costs $38,000 per child per year. Billions of dollars burn through a broken machine with little accountability and even less coordination. The kingdom has never lacked resources. There is $72.5 billion in the child welfare budget alone. The challenge is people willing to step up, stay in the game, and refuse to let the numbers replace the faces.

Tomorrow is the day. Something happens when a few thousand founders, builders, and leaders stop performing for a room and start telling the truth in one. The pressure comes off. The question changes from "how do I look" to "what am I actually building." John Maxwell, David Green, and Iyinoluwa "E" Aboyeji are bringing what they've learned about building something that outlasts them. Applause builds empires. Humble ambition builds the kingdom. There's still a seat. Register tonight and walk in with us tomorrow. What would change for you if you stopped building alone?
