slog: 7 miles (6 w/ @originalpropagandaathleticclub) + my last long run before the @loverunphilly // sweets: choco rugelach + a pistachio coffee cookie ft. a savory artichoke boreka

we're in the home stretch, baby! everytime someone asks me how i feel ab next sunday, i simply say i have it in the bag bc it truly feels like the hard work + how much easier #running feels can't result in anything else. so, here's to hoping it ends when the clock strikes before or on 1:45 🤞 i spent a lot of time in the community w/ some of my fave run clubs this week + it only made me feel more excited + connected to the peeps who will be out there both cheering + racing

i had been to the israeli bakery we all know + love + wait in long lines for when it first opened, but i was happy to be back to see what they're dishing nowadays. i was ready to get all #pistachio everything (their pistachio buns are showstoppers ✨️), but then i spotted the choco #rugelach, which is v nostalgic for me. but like, nostalgic in the way that i would house the big plastic bins of raspberry walnut + choco chip rugelach they would sell at bj's when i was younger + then learned how to make them bc i liked them so much. the version i would make/bj's would sell was actually americanized + used a cream cheese, unleavened dough (flaky texture), and isreali rugelach uses yeasted dough (denser pastry texture). so i'd say this rugelach was the real deal, which was cakier. the only way i can eat a lot of these sweets is if i split them, so i immediately divided the cookie amongst friends + we all decided they were a++ bc there wasn't a bite that didn't have pistachio or toffee + in that moment there wasn't a better combo

it's always interesting reflecting through these posts bc i didn't actually realize how much of a slog life was in a good way this week. i now know that cross-training can mean helping a friend + their neighbors clean up an eye sore of a vacant lot for 4 hours + that a rice crispy treat will never taste better after such a feat, i got to meet + learn from my fave baker, i successfully incorporated group runs into my training + lil treats, THEY ARE EVERYWHERE U GO
