The Bitter Buffalo

One year ago today, I took a leap of faith, flying alone to a place I never imagined I would be, to do something that spoke to me deeply. The journey wasn’t always easy, but I wouldn’t trade this once in a lifetime experience for anything.

To my students: though it is usually the teacher who affirms the students, but between us, it went both ways. Thank you for never holding back your encouragement, and for treating me not just as a teacher, but as a friend. To my mentors and supervisors, thank you for looking after us and making us feel welcomed while we were far from home. To my dearest TAs: I will forever treasure the adventures we shared, the late-night conversations, our movie nights, and countless moments of laughter (and complaints 👀). And to the friends who walked this path alongside me, every bubble tea and hotpot we shared gave me strength to keep going.

I know our friendships don’t end here. I miss you, and I trust that one day our paths will cross again. Until then, take care and be well. 💗
