Hailing from Tikhana Banaser, Rashmi Singh carries a legacy etched in courage. Her grandfather, Major Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC, led one of the greatest last stands in military history the Battle of Rezang La, 1962. At 18,000 ft, surrounded, outnumbered and cut off, he and his 120 men of Charlie Company fought with a resolve that redefined valour. For his supreme leadership, he was honoured with the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award.

She never met him, yet his presence has been the quiet strength of her life. Her grandmother’s stories spoke of a man of discipline, humility, and a commander who always put his men before himself, a value that shaped their entire family across generations.

In this reel, she reflects on what it means to grow up with such a legacy: the pride, the weight, the inspiration, and the responsibility to carry forward his spirit with dignity. “Courage is calm. Leadership is service. Honour is a way of life.”

With the film 120 Bahadur bringing his heroism to a new generation, she shares how the story feels when it is your own blood, your own history. For her, Rezang La is not just a chapter in textbooks, it is the soul of her family.

Music doesn’t get in. Music is already in. Music simply uncovers what is there, makes you feel emotions that you didn’t necessarily know you had inside you, and runs around waking them all up. A rebirth of sorts.
