Wow, this Japanese dating show is intriguing. 11 yankiis under one roof to find love. But these once-feared rebels must face their turbulent pasts, navigate budding crushes, and undertake the unfamiliar task of being vulnerable and expressing their feelings.

Talk about a great concept and worth a watch. That's a wrap of Badly in Love. Big thanks to @ohdawnanderson and the rest of the English Dub cast! Big shoutout to Andy Roth and VSI Los Angeles for their hard work on the Dub, I really enjoy it!

TRIFF 2024 looked a little bit different.

After Hurricane Helene’s impact on Western, NC, only weeks prior to our scheduled festival, the town of Tryon wasn’t ready to reopen and welcome a thousand visitors. Some businesses were still waiting for power, deliveries were slow, and losses were heavy.

Our team was safe, and we were thankful that our community was able to rally together so quickly to serve one another.

TRIFF 24 was postponed to November, making the experience different than what we’d expected. Not everyone who’d hoped to attend in October was able to attend in November, we had to find new venues for some events, and a few things in the schedule had to change.

And yet, somehow we still had our best festival to date. While maybe not the exact program that we originally set out to provide, we were able to offer world class educational opportunities, screen moving films, and come together as a community to enjoy artistry and storytelling. Celebrating one another, our craft, and the Town of Tryon seemed to be much more meaningful that year.

We couldn’t make TRIFF happen without the love of our local community. We are extremely thankful for support like the Hurricane Helene Relief Grant that came from @artsasheville . While we celebrated through Helene, the storm still left a lasting impact on our community, and we were very grateful to this incredible council for recognizing and acknowledging our need.

~ Little Amelie ~

Francesca Calo’s story about booking an English dub gig as one of the stars of “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain” is a great example of how as an actor you really never know what the projects you get to be a part of may end up becoming. Fran shares how she was just thrilled to have her next job lined up when she recorded the character of Nishio-san for the English cast of the acclaimed animated film. She never expected it would go on to be nominated for all of the major film awards of this past award season, garnering Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Oscar nominations. Incredible to see an independently produced foreign film achieve such recognition! If you haven’t watched the film yet, go seek it out to enjoy Fran’s amazing performance!

~ Motorboating?!? ~

In honor of the new switch 2 release of “Star Fox” we broke out the OG 64 version and played it with our friend, actor & director Francesca Calo (“Gundam Seed: Destiny”, “Little Amélie”). This was one of Fran’s favorite games as a kid and revisiting the original with her was such a nostalgia bomb! We were all geeking out over the graphics and memories. Also we honestly had no idea Star Fox was dropping! How serendipitous!

I love LA. I love the people. I love the weather. I love the food. I love the industry & the opportunities & the work. 🌞✌️

Didn’t get a chance to see everyone I’d hoped to (or to even take a photo with everyone I *did* see 😅), but don’t worry - I’ll be back before the end of the year.

Had so much fun at the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe screening put on by @42west!

Getting to be the English voice of Hathaway is one of the coolest things I've gotten to do and he means a ton to me, so getting to see the new movie with friends and fans was amazing. It was my first red carpet too!

The movie is in theatres starting today so go see it if you can!!

Huge thanks to @GundamInfoNA and @BandaiNamcoFilmworks_EN
