Love ❤️ Ascension 🔥”the Shadow of your Smile” / Marvin Gaye / Art is a feeling connected to the deeper nature of our own self: Creation. Warming up before an historical shoot at Ballet Dance center in Harlem for the New York Times. The space was full of great spirits. So much hard work and stories in this magical location. I channeled this energy and send it back to the world 🌊. Can’t wait to share the images 🌍⚔️. Magic handmade hats by Debbie Lorenzo

Walking into the weekend like. ❤️ Yesterday I had an amazing day shooting a segment with @ashleybellman for @newyorklivetv! We talked all things @dontsithome and @dontsithomestyle, and we got personal talking about my professional and physical journey over the past 1.5 years+.

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know that my life was turned upside well before COVID because in 2019, I shattered my entire face and part of my skull. To those that are new here, yes that happened lol. Then add a global pandemic telling people to sit home...it’s been tough.

Yesterday, I got to share some of my recovery story and showcase two businesses that helped me get through a difficult time.

When I got home from the hospital for the first time, I covered mirrors because I couldn’t even look at myself. The trauma my head and face suffered inside and out was honestly just horrific and I thought there was no chance I would ever look like me again. I even had so much nerve damage on top of my head that I could barely brush my hair let alone do anything with it. So while everyone was having a “hot girl summer”, I eventually was out having a hat girl summer hiding from the world and the sun, and trying to live as normal of a life that I could.

Hats helped with my confidence as I got back to real life. They not only hid my healing scars from people and the sun, but they also helped hide my nerve damage since the sun can really affect it in a negative way. From baseball hats to Kentucky Derby style...they were my uniform as I tried to fill my head, heart and life again with people and experiences. 🧢 👒

When I got to the point where I could get my hair done, I didn’t realize truly how incredible it would feel. Blowouts and haircuts might seem simple, but not only did it help make me just feel better because my hair was done, but they helped ease nerve damage pain then and still do now. 💇🏼‍♀️

Two fabulous businesses that cover both of these are @upandoutbeauty in Hoboken and @frances.grey based in New Rochelle. @ashleybellman and I visited both women owned businesses yesterday, so stay tuned for the @newyorklivetv segment in April to learn more! 🎥
