POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I fell in love with little William the first time I saw him. His story shows his heart, bravery and strength and represents what so many vegan children go through. They care so much that are willing to be the odd one out. They're willing to to stand by their morals and stand with the animals. They're willing to be a voice for the voiceless.

I think William is adorable, but maybe I'm biased.

I was thinking of having my own copy of the book, not for social media posts, just for me. I was going to have purple geese and turquoise chickens. That's when I realised, there are loads of kids who love colour, but don't or can't colour in. They still want the rainbow cow and green hair, but conventional books can't give them that experience.
Colour Your Own Mummy I Want to be Vegan gives vegan children the chance to have a unique book. They have the story written for vegan kids and the colours that they want.
They can colour it themselves, you can do it together, or you can do it for them. The pigs could have blue glitter mud and the cows could leave stripy cow pats. Only your imagination will stop you.
Colour Your Own Mummy I Want to be Vegan is available for pre-order, with the full release on October 15th.

Being vegan often means being the odd one out. The one who is doing some different to everyone else. We took this principle and applied it to our first book, Mummy, I Want to be Vegan.

This colour-your-own book is both a colouring book and story book in one. Not one or the other.

You can enjoy William's story while expressing your own creativity. If you don't want to read, you can colour in some pigs. Don't want to colour, read the beautiful story.

Dress William in your favourite colours, make the chickens purple, have William eat rainbow mashed potato - the choice is 100% yours.

Colour your own Mummy, I Want to be Vegan will be out in October with pre-order available soon.

Mummy, I Want to be Vegan has won The Vegan Choice Award. This is the only award that I wanted. This is the award that's important. I'm not saying that any other awards that the book gets won't be great. It's that having the vegan stamp of approval is what it's about. This book was written and illustrated by vegans for vegans, little vegans in particular. They are the ones that matter. So knowing that the book is good enough for them fills me with joy.

Thank you @veganchoiceawards for considering the book from me,Francisco and especially William.

The book is in full release THIS FRIDAY!!! and is available pretty much everywhere. If you know any booksellers who aren't stocking it, have a word with them, I'm sure they'd love to sell it.

Creating Mummy I Want to be Vegan was so much more than writing a short story and drawing a few pictures. The story was written for the children who want to do what they know isright. For the children brave enough to go against what is "normal", to follow their heart.

Willam was crafted. He is young, he's small, he doesn't look like everyone else, but he doesn't care. He knows himself and he's supported by his mum who, even when she isn't sure that what he wants is the best, will do everything she can to help him achieve his goals in the best way.

Every character, including the animals was though about. Nothing was by accident and every choice was made deliberately.

There is no AI in Mummy, I Want to be Vegan. The writing is my own. The art, that truly brings the story to life, is Francisco's. I believe in vegan unity and this book is an example of that. I also believe that, no matter how much they love animals, no artist who consumed animals or the products that come from their bodies, would connect with the story as Francisco does.

This is a joint effort, from our hearts for yours.

Willam loves animals, all animals. But when William realises that the chicken in his cat's bowl, and on his plate comes from animals, he's conflicted. His mum eats meat, his friends eat meat, his school even serves meat everyday. Should he carry on doing what everyone else does, or should he brave and forge his own path?

Read William's story in our book, Mummy I Want to be Vegan, out now at www.theyoungvegan.co.uk and available for pre-order from amazon, Barnes and Nobel and more.
