🎶 Frank Bell - The Penguin 🐧 🎶

So, this has always been one of my favourite songs to play, a lot of people always assume it’s one of my own - but nope, I don’t think I could write such a great song! 😅

For those who don’t know the story, back in the early days of Youtube, this song was probably one of the first ‘viral’ hits, spending ages on the YouTube Front Page..

I was obsessed, and had just started learning guitar, but couldn’t play it for the life of me… a couple years later when I started singing and playing, I tried again, and it’s been mainstay within my extended setlist ever since.

It’s always a song so well received, and yeah, @frankbell has really inspired me as an artist and writer, certainly in my late teens and early 20’s!

An absolute diamond of bloke too, been a big supporter of mine on & off stage, making sure to catch up throughout my darkest patches, when my health wasn’t great.

An artist, and a fellow man, I will always have huge love and admiration for!

I hope one day we get to jam this together! 🙏🙌

New York… I’ll be there one day!! ✈️

🎬 It’s Soundtrack Sunday, and we’re bringing you Part 2 of director Alejandro Montoya-Marin’s thoughts on the music that drives The Unexpecteds.

This week dives deeper into the songs that shaped the film’s tone — a wild blend of grit, humor, emotion, and chaos 💥🎶

🇲🇽 Plastilina Mosh – “Graceland” & “Mexican Peso”
Monterrey legends of the Avanzada Regia movement, Plastilina Mosh bring swagger, satire, and sonic fusion. Their genre-bending style mirrors the rebellious pulse of the movie.

🌧 CCFX – “The One to Wait”
From Olympia, WA — a dreamy, emotional track that slows time inside the film’s momentum. It’s a breath, a heartbeat, a moment of clarity in the chaos.

⚡️ Kate Fagan – “I Don’t Wanna Be So Cool”
A post-punk anthem from the early ’80s that radiates fearless authenticity. It perfectly channels the film’s message about rejecting façades and embracing imperfection.

🔥 Les Lullies – “Zero Ambition”
From Montpellier, France 🇫🇷 — raw garage-punk electricity that adds swagger and wild energy to one of the film’s key moments.

🚦 Chubby and the Gang – “On the Meter”
West London punk grit meets cinematic pace. The track surges like a rush-hour heartbeat — fast, loud, unstoppable.

🎭 Frank Bell & Jack Fanselau – “Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma”
A powerful modern re-imagining of Puccini’s aria that brings grand, emotional weight to the story’s closing sequence.

💬 The soundtrack isn’t just background — it’s story. Each song deepens the emotion and energy of The Unexpected(s) and helps define its world through sound and attitude.
