Hello PB Peeps,

The 7th annual Seattle Metro Tournament starts tomorrow at Shoreview Park in Shoreline! 3 tennis pods are converted to 18 pickleball courts to host the biggest PB tournament in the state with 647 players battling it out over 6 days. Play starts daily @ 8am going from Tuesday the 28th - Sunday Aug 2nd!

https://pickleballtournaments.com/tournaments/2026-seattle-metro-classic-presented-by-uw-medicine

We will have 50+ and older divisions playing Tues/Wed/Thursday with the amazing Border Battle (WA open players vs. Oregon open players) exhibition matches starting around 2pm on Thursday. Come watch, it is an exhilerating sight to see elite players in MILP style play! Under 50 play occurs on Fri/Sat/Sun..

Additionally, once competition is over each day, we invite all to rec play on Pods 2 and 3 in the evening. Our only need is that you DONT PLAY on courts in Pods 2 or 3 TILL ALL TOURNAMENT PLAY IS OVER to minimize errant ball interruptions.

These times represent when the last matches estimate to end and courts will open so you can still get your PB fix in.

Tues (mens srs): 4:30pm
Wed: (mixed srs) 5:30pm
Thu: (wms srs) 4:00pm + Border Battle @ 2pm (come watch before you play!)
Fri: (mens) 6pm
Sat: (mixed) 6pm
Sun: (wms) 4:30pm

Every day there will be 100s of people playing and watching. It is electrifying so come watch your friends and open players (Pod 1) alike battle it out!

Sincerely
The Seattle Metro Organizing Committee,
YvonneC, FrankC, SeanO, VirginiaS, and SammyW

🫵Runner! We need you. SMPA needs 19 court monitors for the Seattle Metro Winter Classic Feb 13-16 at Side Out Tsunami Pickleball Center.

Run the scorecards between the players and the PIG desk. Be a part of the restricted operations area and observe PIG director Mike Hoxie in action! Mike Hoxie of PIG ran 135 tournaments in 25 states last year. Join the industry's leading independent tournament operator in conducting the largest winter tournament in the Pacific Northwest! The SMWC, like the SMC, is a fundraiser for the Seattle Metro Pickleball Association, a non-profit organization.

👉 Volunteer signup: pickleballdesk.com/signup/1133

When: Feb 13–16 at Side Out Tsunami — with competitive play from 3.0 through 5.0+ & open (yes, some pros included 👀).

Volunteering is a fun way to stay connected:

• see great pickleball up close and eat for free
• meet people who love the sport as much as you do
• be part of the local pickleball community
• help deliver the player-first experience the Metro Classic is known for

Whether you can help for a few hours or a full day, we’d love to have you. You don’t have to be an expert — just friendly, reliable, and willing to help.
