Massive congratulations @claire_linney for your joyous launch tonight at the beautiful @discover_story centre. It was the perfect venue for the third book in your fabulous #timetubtravellers series with #timetubtravellersromanrescue 🐁 We loved your very funny (and very co-ordinated) speech, particularly you sharing the roasted mice and sponge on a stick research 👀😱

Absolutely wonderful to meet your lovely family; catch up with the always warm and welcoming kids lit community; and say congratulations too to @onyinye_iwu for her stunning covers. I agree about the “red” too!!

Looking forward to hearing more (and seeing more) about your upcoming projects. Lots more (so much more!) to look forward to!!

Huge hugs xxxx 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

✨We have a NAME! ✨Please meet CRIMPLE PANTS our resident cuddly cat that the wonderful @fionawritesbooks made for us when we first opened 🤩

Crimple Pants is happy to continue meeting local children, and still loves cuddles - she doesn’t think her new name will change her at all!

She says she is very happy with her new name and she loves living in a children’s bookshop ✨📚

If you want to shorten her name to Crimple sometimes, that’s okay. But she likes to hear her FULL name daily 🤩🥳😜

Thank you to ALL of you who gave us name suggestions, it was very hard to choose. We now have lots of ideas if we get more cuddly cats - or even a real one! Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Thank you again to our Name The Cat winner, we would never have found this name without you ✨📚 We hope your Paper Cat gift voucher introduces you to lots of great stories!

One of my favorite things about children’s books is how easily one story can lead to more conversation, movement, creativity and play.

That’s the heart behind Handspun Whimsy… helping adults and children spend meaningful time learning and imagining together, even after the book is closed. 🌿🦊

📖 Story time is one of the most important moments in our school day. It gives us the opportunity to pause, connect and share in the joy of a great book 📖

Reading with others helps to build a sense of belonging and connection. Whether we’re laughing at a favourite character, exploring a new world or discussing an important message, stories create shared experiences that bring our school community closer together.
Story time also helps to develop language, imagination and a life-long love of reading. Most importantly, it reminds us that every child deserves time to listen, wonder and connect.
Our teachers and non-teaching staff are passionate readers too, and they’re excited to share some of the books they’re currently enjoying with our pupils 📖✨
Take a look at some of the wonderful reads being enjoyed across our school!

A Story Buddy Collection is more than a book and a plushie. 🍂

Each one includes a children’s picture book, a handmade crochet friend and an activity card created especially for that story.

The activities invite little readers to move, talk, imagine, solve problems and continue exploring after the book is closed.

All three Forest Friends Story Buddy Collections are now available at handspunwhimsy.com.

Which story would you read first?

Some picture books make you slow down before you’ve even read the words. 🤍

These two are filled with the kind of illustrations you want to pause over—taking in the colors, tiny details and atmosphere on every page.

🌤️ There Was a Shadow by Bruce Handy, illustrated by Lisk Feng — published by Enchanted Lion Books. A luminous exploration of light and shadow as they shift from morning through night.
🕊️ Bird’s Eye View by Frann Preston-Gannon — published by Templar Publishing. A beautifully detailed journey above forests, towns, cities, and people seen through the eyes of a curious little bird.

Two very different illustration styles, but both are such a joy to explore.

Which one immediately catches your eye? 📚✨

Why isn’t there a Netflix Doc about Indie bookshops and booksellers? There clearly should be!

Children’s bookshops could have their own episode maybe 😜

Come see Frann balance more great books on her head soon! 🥳
