There’s a new EP from Marta Mist out today. If you didn’t know, MM is mine and @frau_green's side project that’s a lot more ambient and not so electronic as satan, so it revolves around beds of reverby guitar and violin. Anyway, all of that is here on this one, and if you’d like a copy, just follow that link in description to get a sweet handmade CD (that’s it in the second picture), just like the old days (of 2007) haha. Digital is pay what you like and I’m sure it’s also on streaming sites too. Enjoy!

Back in 2006, Gavin Miller sat at a computer in his bedroom and put the finishing touches on some tracks to upload to his MySpace account. Searching for a band name, he eventually decided on the username he had on an internet forum for Belgian art-rock band dEUS, itself named after one of their more obscure songs.

Two decades on, and @worriedaboutsatan is still here, still putting finishing touches to songs in bedrooms, still a firm believer in doing things yourself.

From humble beginnings, the band is now firmly entrenched in the DIY electronic underground. After 20 years of touring and releasing, it would be an understatement to say the band has done a lot in that time. From regularly featuring in Adam Curtis BBC documentaries (not to mention working as music supervisor on some of them), to touring round most of Europe and the US, to chatting with Karl Hyde from Underworld in a caravan, walking around Edinburgh with Ian Rankin, to discussing the intricacies of Celtic’s Champions League chances with 3/5ths of Mogwai, chances are if you can think of a situation, Miller’s probably been there or somewhere close.

Throughout its history, the band has been a way of communicating Miller’s disparate tastes and ideas. A prolific releaser of records, the albums, EPs and singles that have slowly but surely emanated from his home studio in Saltaire, Yorkshire, have taken in everything from motorik kosmische, to slow motion techno, to glistening ambient soundscapes, with a particular melancholy being the only thing threading them all together. Pitchfork once called it “Burial for English lit majors”, although a plethora of other outlets have enthused about it over the years too - everyone from Resident Advisor to Prog Magazine, The Wire, The Quietus, Mojo, Electronic Sound, and too many to list here without your eyes glazing over. The Guardian even let him do a mix once.

Miller’s partner @frau_green adds spellbinding violin and vocals live, as the pair construct semi-improvised modular synth and post-rock guitar atmospheres - catch them at @kcc_shipley on Saturday 16th May with @dystopian_vectors 🤝

Some of my fave portraits from Saturday’s celebration of 20 years of @mybshwll - means a lot to have been a part of it. The fan to photographer path is one filled with infinite feelings of self doubt and impostor syndrome and it took me years to believe that I’m actually alright at this camera wrangling thing. But I did because those humans allowed me years of practice. I also wouldn’t have met my music family, which keeps growing with every year. This is what happens when your neurodivergent brain decides to fixate on something. You get an obsessive mind wanting to get better. #maybeshewill #concertphotography #livemusicphotography

I’ve been promising a soppy post and here goes. Last Friday I had the amazing opportunity to shoot @mybshwll’s 20th anniversary show at @arctangentfestival and it’s no secret to anyone who knows me that we have history. This was a band that I got obsessed with perhaps 4 years into those 2 decades and started to bring my first DSLR along to the shows, back in the day when I was chaotically pressing all the buttons genuinely hoping for the best. The fact that I’m now an @abbeyroadmpa shortlisted photographer is pretty much solely down to the relentless pursuit of getting @jamiewardproducer’s clean jump shot that you can see on slide 2. The fangirl to photographer path resulted in working with them throughout many of those years later, which is remarkable. Thank you for the years of trust! #maybeshewill #hefilmstheclouds #livemusicphotography #concertphotography #arctangentfestival #postrock #musicportrait
