LAST TUNE IN A DJ SET

When I was DJing at Stowaway Festival recently I started my set quite Soul / Jazz and built up and towards the end of the set I was playing Drum & Bass / Jungle, which was going down very well but I had a strong feeling that I wanted to finish of my set with a Soul / Jazz vibe and dropped 4hero’s version of Les Fleurs as my last tune.

I had quite a few people thank me at the end and one woman asked to speak to me and told me that her husband had passed away recently and he was into Tru Thoughts, so she really wanted to come and check my set, which she really enjoyed. She said Les Fleurs was her and her husbands favourite tune, so it made her cry but joyful when I played it as my last tune. I was feeling very emotional when I was told this at the time and when I think about it now too. Hearing that felt more significant than getting a thousand “likes” or “thumbs up” on social media. That real connection you can make with people and music as a DJ or dancer is so important in clubs and festivals. The power that music and songs have can be so strong and more important than an algorithm or follower numbers or “likes”.

🙏🏽Thanks to Mamita Concha healer, Taita Miguel Muchabisoy, and the tribes of Putumayo, Colombia, for the knowledge and strength shared on this path. May my prayers always be channeled through your teachings. I also thank Roots of Freedom and their community for opening the space for this ceremony, as well as Julia, who also channeled strength with her medicinal songs. Love and respect, Grandfather🍃

Last week we opened up our woodland with such a beautiful group of people . It’s been 7 days of reflection of my shamanic training also. Trusting in some ancient teachings and weaving that in to the personal practice and also what I want to share . With no fires this opened up an opportunity to bring in the water , flowers and candles . It was so touching how the trust and love of our community listens and takes on these little prayers of mine . Watching you blow your own prayers or maybe what you don’t need anymore and placing that flower in the waters that the wildlife have been drinking this week is a collaboration in itself . Nature and humans can support each other in such beautiful simple practices. Watching you walk through the woodland and show so much interest and compassion for the mugwort tea I foraged was also not overseen. As my path changes and goes a little deeper, having you all by my side from time to time fills my cup too . Thank you for breathing into the evening and allowing your body rest . @serenityyogaclasses @jon_e_kay for the sound and help around these events . A huge thank you has to go to @frazerwaller for the most beautiful photos 🙏

Nothing has shaped me like life has.

Sure, I have qualifications, however the transformation I experienced was because I knew life could be better.

I knew, even though I would wake up at 2am thinking “is this it?”, the drive inside me to know that it wasn’t, was what changed my life.

When I started to feel less alone, more connected, more magnetic, more trusting, I started to make life simpler.

Yet it had so much more meaning.

I was no longer feeling alone in a packed room wondering if anyone really knew me, because I started to know myself.

And I really began to appreciate everything I had been through, because it made me the woman I am today.

That’s what drives me to help other women reach the same place too.

If you’ve ever stood in a room full of people and still felt completely alone, or looked at your life and thought this should feel like enough, I see you. And I’d love to hear from you.

When Cacao profusely presents herself to me, I haven’t a choice but to listen.

So when with her, I journey with what arises, and here are some of the insights I have received.

Restoring the lost waters, the broken hearted ones, certainly within me and externally too.

The grief heart and how we can travel through the intensity with a clear understanding that we are held, and to accept the holding, totally.

Thank you to all of those in these recent times who enjoyed the cacao ive been making, sharing this goodness thanks to the community in Chiapas, and my fellow ones @rootofthegods and @estella__star for crossing the bridges that support me working closely with this specific cacao.

I’m gently expanding how I relate to the world with cacao, slowly slowly weaving the thread and embracing my journey with this medicine, amongst working with plants of this land and the rose alongside.

Thank you for tuning in and whatever clarity this sharing brought to you. 🪷

Thank you to @frazerwaller for this beautiful first picture.

Scenes from the summer solstice, a weaving of humanity. It is a joy to connect in fellowship unbound by our limited perceptions, sharing our life affirming food & drink with musical accompaniment.

Thankyou @rootstofreedom_ and to all those joined us in The Riser Den 🏵️
