Tues
It’s chess night! All skill levels welcome, 6ish to 8ish! Maybe we’ll watch some baseball after that (just let us know!)

Wed
The legend returns to Tubby’s for his final Hudson Valley show of 2026!

Juma Sultan has a 60-plus year history as a musician, composer, archivist, activist, and educator. His band, Aboriginal Music Society, has been an evolving collective of musicians for over 50 years, playing a unique, ever-changing, genre-morphing style of music. The current iteration of the band continues exploring spirit grounded in sound, playing Juma’s original compositions, most of which have not yet been released on record.

Juma has played and collaborated with countless significant individuals — Jimi Hendrix, Archie Shepp, Sonny Simmons, Pharaoh Sanders, James “Blood” Ulmer, Dave Burell, Sam Rivers, and many, many more.

Fri
Party of the week!

Living Language is a Brooklyn-based group led by Nikhil P. Yerawadekar (Antibalas, Hailu Mergia, Say She She), bringing the architecture and pan-African dialect of Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat music to today’s dance floors and listening rooms. The members of Living Language have worked closely with icons such as Tony Allen, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Charles Bradley, and David Byrne, and the free expression within the band’s hypnotic music reveals a connection to our common roots, inviting audiences into the spirit of liberation and resistance that is synonymous with Afrobeat.

To celebrate Fela Kuti’s 88th birthday in the Hudson Valley, the sextet will be doubled in size by aligned musical guests from the area for some special large-ensemble performances from the legend’s catalog.

With Freakout / Busquelo keeping the party raging

Sat
A duo ensemble born from a childhood friendship in the midwest, Joe Westerlund and Trever Hagen have merged their solo work on drums and trumpet into a distinct sound world of melodic, rhythmic and lush electroacoustic texture. The pair pays respect to this instrumentation’s historical context, while reaching further into sonic geographies with their shared voice.

Kicking it off is a deep HV trio with Ged, Michael, and Otto!
