Late post! A few months ago my second family and I went on a beautiful vacation to Hawaii. We had the best time away with each other. I love them DEEP!!!

This is a difficult one. I hate I’m writing this.

Gutted!

Sway!!! British MC and a pioneer of Grime and Hip-Hop has been taken from us. R.I.P my friend. Such a gifted and fierce lyricist. You can’t even begin to imagine the mark and impact you’ve left on us in the U.K Rap Industry and the rest of the world. A visionary and such a lovely human too.

I was the first to bring @swaydasafo to the U.S in the early naughts. I promoted a few shows in NY and then over to @SXSW where he received incredible warmth and love from the U.S audience and industry. That was where he hooked up with @chamillionaire and collaborated. We hung with the @therealswishahouse crew too.

Being from England, I was always paying attention to the Hip-Hop, Jungle, Drum & Bass and Grime scenes. They all intertwined. I love the musicality and always pushing the envelope. And felt some of the best innovators came out of that scene. It took a while for the U.S Hip-Hop community to embrace the sound, but it finally happened.

I can’t recall the exact time we met, but Dan Greenpeace connected us and brought me on to represent Stateside. I was already a huge fan, so was a no brainer.

I need to find more pics somewhere in the vault.

My girl @sharoncarpenter told me the news this morning. Not the phone call I thought I was having. She interviewed Sway for a special on Grime for BET.

And I had left Joe’s Pub as the late night talent booker and handed the torch to @roxycottontail and I immediately called her and said let’s put Sway on your Spank Rock show which still to this day one of my fave shows. Wall to wall eager rabid fans. That venue packed to the gills.

I lost touch with Sway over the years. Life happens. People move on, lives change. He ended up raising a beautiful family but also became quite ill.

I’m so happy we did manage to reconnect a few months ago. He told me to keep up the great work. He sees me, he said. And then proceeded to tell me he’s going to start writing and recording and getting out there again.

R.I.P Sway. Gone but Never Forgotten.

This project was my first “real” production job. It was my introduction into an industry I’ve been able to take by storm. I was a production office PA but based on my attentiveness, assertiveness, and level of communication —I was brought into the AD (Assistant Director) department and it took my career to new levels. Shout out to @allminds for his leadership and mentoring—I learned so much on this project and worked with some incredible people who later became my family!

Thankful for @misslefleur and @omarion for allowing me to be a part of this amazing body of work. I can’t wait for you all to see this show! It’s not what you are expecting and @dejilaray did a wonderful job with creating this wonderful story.

I remember the night @freckledone called me and said “I’m producing a show about an assassin, there will be a lot of tech and weapons involved but I want you to production design” I immediately said I can’t do it! She convinced me to talk to @dejilaray the creator of the show and I was sold. His passion and vision made me want to help bring this show to life! I told him I would work my ass off and learn what I didn’t know. My crew was young and full of hustle and didn’t possess the words we can’t! Every time I came up with an idea each of them helped to make it a reality. Im so proud of everyone involved and so grateful I was given this opportunity to work with such and incredible cast and crew. Moral of the story is if you don’t have friends in your life pushing you to be better and giving you opportunities to get better,get rid of them! Secondly, do it scared, do it alone, do it without the degree, Just Do It!!! March 12 tune in!

What a journey these past 6 weeks have been—it felt like an eternity, but every long day on set was so worth it. 🙌 I had the privilege of working alongside incredible talent and an amazing crew, all while discovering new areas for growth in my professional journey.
