Some people think winter means a bad time to go diving.
It’s actually the opposite.

This is Shark Alley at Flat Rock off @northstraddieisland .
It comes alive with the arrival of grey nurse sharks every winter (June through October). Yeah, water temp drops to about 20-21 degrees, but the trade-off is calmer seas, more days with better visibility, plus humpback whale migration is happening too, so you get to dive with their songs in the background, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot one underwater!

So next time someone asks why I love diving in winter so much this is why!

The other grey nomads! Grey nurse sharks travel up and down Australia's east coast and every winter when it's warmer down south they arrive up these parts.. They've finally arrived up here and it's good to see them back. Apparently the same individuals do find their way back to the same sites, so I'm wondering if I met this one last year

The manta madness that was the 2026 @mantalodge girl's weekend 🤯

Over three days of diving, more than 30 different individuals were identified through the group and @projectmanta

It is definitely the craziest dives I've had at manta bommie over the years. Incredible conditions and literally manta rays everywhere.

The ocean really turned it on for the special weekend that it was 💕
