Until all women are free, no woman is free. Until all beings are free, no one is. 💚 #Cornell7

I’ve had the same conversation with brilliant, thoughtful, talented, politically informed and engaged, deep thinkers women who hesitate to use social media out of fear of lacking nuance, perspective, or saying the wrong thing (the exact women who I want posting everyday their thoughts and rants, who spend their days researching and advocating without a break and years building social projects, still ongoing). That dismiss it as cringe while still having an account (internalized misogyny of diminishing the work of an “influencer” who are mostly women). And while I understand the growing fatigue with technology, and believe we’ll increasingly crave real-life community and connection, a return to the Land and its communal ways of living (already started ++), I can’t help but wonder if, beneath all of this, there is also a fear of self-promotion, of taking up space, and of using our voices before we feel like we know everything (a very woman thing). If orange man and Elon can skew entire world economies and tank stock prices off random small-dick unfounded remarks, so can I, so can, and should, you. Talk louder than them, please.

In this time of economic downturn and election season, a lot of people are feeling despair. But despair makes us freeze and leads to inaction. It is not a time to shut up, be silent, and erase ourselves. I don’t see this as doom, but as an opportunity for hope, to rethink and reshape the systems we have in place and return to a more natural, aligned way of living (increased cost of living and housing crisis = why do we need each our own? so much stuff?). To be audacious and ingenious. Change and transformation aren’t supposed to feel comfortable. But it doesn’t automatically mean it is something negative nonetheless. Sometimes, the solution is simply to keep going or to give something to someone else. Volunteering at a palliative care home was one of the only things that made me feel like I had regained a sense of control during covid. There homeless and DV shelters, palliative care homes, suicide hotlines, community orgs, and nature clean-ups.

C'est l'un des rares endroits au monde qui ressemble encore à ce qu'étaient les côtes il y a des milliers d'années.
Je croyais en être le gardien l'espace d'une vie ! Finalement, je comprends que c'est elle qui me garde.

I don’t often allow myself to bring this side forward. Althought it’s there 🌙 A woman of many shades who find sensuality in alot of things, including bodies, sexy minds and nature, ideally all of em together.

We are about to host a workshop on the Art of Erotic Writing on @thesalty.club and it made me resurface various texts i wrote and left in draft,…. or sent as an handwritten note.

I mainly portray myself as an action sports lady, whilst there is a soft, sensual, sexual being that lives within me too. We are all multi-dimensionals beings but we get to choose how we like to be portrayed online. I didn’t choose the sensual, altho she is me too.

So tonight, she shines ✨

What side of aren’t you letting shine..?

I have always believed a life can be stitched together like a garment, panel by panel, season by season, threads of memory running through it all. When I think about MAIKAI, I don’t see a company. I see a long cutting table in morning light, a kettle steaming in the corner, a stack of handloom swatches soft as breath, and a small circle of women speaking in the language of making. This is where my life as an artist and entrepreneur overlaps so completely that I can’t tell where one ends and the other begins.

My work, MAIKAI, exists because of collaboration. Behind every piece that bears my name are the women who helped bring it into being. The photographers I work with are not simply hired hands documenting finished work. They are co-creators, bringing their own artistic voice to the conversation. When a photographer arrives with her equipment, her particular way of seeing, she becomes part of the creative lineage of that piece.

The muses who move through my studio bring something equally vital. They arrive carrying their own stories, their particular embodiment, their way of inhabiting space. When someone agrees to be photographed wearing a piece from the collection, they lend their energy to the garment. They complete a circuit that began months earlier, when the first sketch whispered itself into existence, when the fabric was sourced, when the pattern was cut.

This is what collaboration means. It means making space for other people to bring their whole selves into the work. It means recognizing that my vision becomes richer when filtered through someone else’s experience. A photographer might suggest we shoot in harsh midday light instead of golden hour, completely changing how the textures read. A muse might move differently than I directed, revealing something about the garment I had not seen on the hanger. The women I work with teach me constantly about resilience, beauty, complexity. They show me what it means to be fully alive in a female body navigating this world.
