Huge thanks to everyone who joined our midsummer literary soirée at the Power Haus to celebrate Josh Weil’s new novel What Came West. The reading was riveting, the Q&A full of thoughtful discussion, and the food nothing short of scrumptious.

What a delight to see old friends and make new ones, gathered in this historic space in honor of story, Nisenan heritage, river, and community. Deep gratitude to @soderstromelizabeth, @steverothert95959, @yubariverpeople, @quenchnevadacity, and of course @joshjweil for making this fundraiser such a success and helping support the Yuba River watershed.

Already looking forward to the next time we can fill the haus with books, music, and great conversation.

Super fun shoot w/ famed comedian @heatherkmcmahan shot for Unisom. I got an email a couple days prior that I’d be photographing Heather at a hotel in West Hollywood. An adrenaline rush knowing I had about a half hour to set up, and a half hour to photograph her, all without an assistant 😬 But it all really worked out great. Heather was hilarious & fun in front of the camera, as expected. Braving a D.C. winter, Photographer/Director @elimeirkaplan recently partnered with the @usdagov for an expansive new WIC campaign. Over a rigorous three-day shoot across three locations, they captured the stories of 11 different families, focusing on the accessibility of healthy, culturally diverse nutrition.

Despite the freezing temperatures, Eli maintained a warm, authentic atmosphere, delivering a robust library of lifestyle imagery that celebrates health and heritage.

Finding a new light with the @madebymountainsfilm project as we move into 2026.

This project represents everything that first drew me to creating imagery when I first started. It has been deeply transformative and re-aligning, both personally and in the message the film carries. At its core, it’s about the people, the adventure, and the collaboration of self-expression. It explores what drives you creatively, what inspires you, and how a life lived in the mountains can be truly transformative in becoming who we are as we journey through life.

Made By Mountains is an art project created by us, for those who live and breathe mountain culture. Growth and change aren’t always easy especially when it comes from deep within, just like venturing into the mountains, but they offer the opportunity to truly understand ourselves through challenge and adversity, vulnerability, and navigating loss of control. Bringing us to share our voice and stories about what it means to live this life inspired by friendships and experiences in the mountains.
