💌 Meet the artists behind “Love Me Good.”

These are the voices, feet, hands, and hearts bringing this project to life: musicians, vocalists, percussive dancers, actors, cirque artists, drag artists, and more of many backgrounds.
“Love Me Good” is our new cover of Nina Simone’s ‘Be My Husband,’ brought to life sonically and visually by this incredible group of artists.

We’re 5 days into our all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaign. If you can donate, however small, it’s so appreciated! Your support allows this group of people to be adequately paid for their work and for this project to reach as many people as possible. Our goal is to surpass 60% funding by the end of this weekend. It’s live. 🔗💌 ”Love Me Good” is a music-video-love-letter to sapphics & mascs, and I need your help to make it!

It’s increasingly hard for queer and trans performing artists to find work where they are safe to be themselves. So we’re making the art I’ve longed to see more of: a visual and sonic feast of connection, community, musical excellence, and desire; created by an incredible, multi-talented group of sapphic, masc, nonbinary, and trans artists.

It’s built around our new cover of Nina Simone’s “Be My Husband,” reimagined through the lenses of Hadestown’s Fates, Stomp, and big band jazz. Human voices in harmony. All percussion made with our feet. Played by two incredible queer musicians. Featuring a diverse and multi-talented cast of percussive dancers, actors, drag performers, cirque artists, and more. All human-made music and human-made visuals.

⏳ We have 30 days to hit our goal. Kickstarter is all-or-nothing, so if we don’t reach it, we don’t get any of the funds from this campaign.

Elated to announce the (pre?) release of my first big band EP, In Every Summer’s Day, exclusively on Bandcamp (for the next month, first single available on all streaming services!) I cannot express enough what a joy and honor it was to be able record my arrangements from the last few years with such a talented band of so many friends and musical heroes.

I want to extend my gratitude to all who made this possible. @benjamin.appel, my musical partner in crime, who did a stellar job conducting and directing this session (I was foolish to originally think I could do this and sing simultaneously). @bunkerstudio and @atkinsonic_ who produced and mixed/mastered respectively, and with excellence. The absolutely brilliant @ericaseguinemusic, with whom I worked on almost all of these charts. @june._.kat, for the beautiful album art (and bearing with my vague instructions). My musical north stars @nealkirkwood (who is prominently featured on this record!) and @brosenmusic, without whom I would’ve never gone down the cumbersome but rewarding path of writing big band music. And of course, the band. Thank you all for making my big band dreams come true!
