I never really wonder why. I suppose that’s what they mean when they say it’s in your DNA.
Cheers to all you folks that keep working dogs healthy. It ain’t easy.

ALASKA 2020: Fished the evenings to dark with Michael on the handful of streams emptying into Thorne Bay. We got into the bears (so we knew the fish were around) and it seemed every other cast was a pink with a few silvers and a rainbow thrown in.

Start’em young!

The starter bamboo rod Gabe and Amelia made James has really gotten some use! The kid throws a tighter loop than his old man at 3 years old.
Thanks to @tuftsandbatson and all our friends that have endured being cast at over the years!

Catching up on last month... The San Juan was epic as were the crew of characters we shared it with. Turned a slough of big fish on tiny flies and bamboo and had a blast doing it. The most enduring memory a month out remains untangling a mud swallow catch up in my line with @ameenayoubdesignstudio . The swallow was one cool customer and lay still on his back in my hand as we went about our work to free him. At the end of it all, I held him up and he hesitated just a moment. A relief to see him fly again.
