Annapolis⛵️

We’ve been hearing that for years. “You have to go to the boat show there just once. It’s unlike anything in the world”. So we (and every other sailor in the world it seemed) made the pilgrimage to Maryland this October. And damn, did it not disappoint.

This week something for us was reignited. The pilot light was on but nothing this year had really put that major spark back into our little cruising fire. Life had gotten in the way, land has gotten annoyingly comfortable, and our Indigo has only been a weekend warrior as of late.

We met sailors. True sailors. People that share the dream, the dread, the passion. Other real humans that you have talked to for years through a little glowing rectangle, but after meeting them you realize that this is your tribe. Your kind of people that you can only hope and pray you meet in an anchorage on some distant shore. God knew that if He plopped a bunch of scallywags in one port for one weekend, magic would happen. And it did.

We could talk freely about leaks, cabin configurations, how varnishing teak is a pain, how much solar you really need, the best place to drop anchor in different ports and ya know things that matter. We truly found community this week. And we could not be more grateful or in awe.

We are thankful to Annapolis, to sailing and to our new found friends who made this week one we will never forget. Summer Camp Buddies Forever. Cheers & Fairwinds from SV Indigo ✌️

Nothing like getting a boatload of your closest sailing friends together for 4+ days of pirate parties, freeing the wind, dinghy races, and spending way too much money in the vendor tents.

We’ve been going to the boat show for a handful of years now — when this was all just a dream, 1 year when we finally had our boat, and this year finally having lived aboard! ⛵️ The ride just keeps getting better and better.
