WHOW is so much bigger than fishing.

It’s boat owners, crews, and volunteers donating their time, fuel, yachts, and resources to give veterans a chance to connect, reflect, and quite literally save lives.

That sacrifice became very real after our trip. Once we left, Capt. Donny’s boat was lost in a fire.

After everything these owners already give to make this event possible, it was a brutal reminder of just how much they put on the line for this mission.

The fishing is incredible, but that’s not what makes War Heroes on Water special.

It’s the people. The brotherhood. The conversations. And a whole community choosing to give back. 🇺🇸

Pretty damn special.

Some days remind you exactly why you started.

I had the opportunity to spend the day with 130 combat-wounded veterans at War Heroes on Water, handing out Survivor Brands jerky and, more importantly, getting the chance to meet some incredible people.

We brought a ton of bags.
We left with a lot more than we came with.

Throughout the day, veterans stopped and shared pieces of their stories with me — their service, injuries, recovery and what rebuilding life looked like afterward. A few conversations turned into me sharing pieces of my own story too.

Our paths couldn't be more different. But there was something familiar in the conversations about rebuilding, finding purpose and continuing forward.

That's what stuck with me.

Survivor Brands was created around the idea that what happens to us doesn't have to be where our story ends. Being able to stand there, shake these men's hands, hear their stories and fuel them for an incredible event was something I'll remember for a long time.

Thank you to War Heroes on Water, Freedom Alliance, Loan Depot and everyone who made this day possible. And most importantly, thank you to the veterans who trusted me with a little piece of their story.

This is what **Fuel With Purpose** means to me. 🇺🇸

For Retail Loan Consultant Kevin Shangraw (NMLS # 1060677), @warheroesonwater presented by loanDepot was more than a weekend on the water; it was a time for him to reconnect with his military roots while making new bonds that will last a lifetime.

Hear more about his experience during the 2026 tournament, which was also the first time loanDepot team members took part.

This flag was donated to Freedom Alliance and was in the silent auction War Heroes on Water and ended up raising $2k. I say this because that’s what you all are helping support, every time I make one of these flags a bit of it goes into raising enough funds to donate another to one of these amazing organizations. So far with your help my flags have helped raise over $120,000.00 for many amazing organizations and I couldn’t be more thankful and humbled every time one goes up and some amazing patriot gets to take it home. Now get back to work 🤓🤓🤓🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
