Philly parents: your library card is doing way more than you think 📚👀

Play spaces. Evening hours. Saturday programs. Baby gear. Birding backpacks. Actual toddler bathroom logistics. Some branches are basically a free outing hiding in plain sight.

I pulled together a few of my favorite Philly library secrets + the branches worth knowing, especially if you’re looking for something cheap, indoors, after daycare, or on a Saturday.

And tell me your branch + the secret parents should know about it. I’m already making Part 2.

Introducing cinéKIDZ—our new children’s program! 👶🏽📽️

cinéKIDZ invites children ages 3 to 10 and their caregivers to discover magical worlds, unforgettable characters, and stories that inspire curiosity, kindness, and wonder.

Each FREE monthly gathering transforms a West Philly @FreeLibrary branch into a playful movie experience with films, hands-on art activities, live music, and conversations designed just for young audiences.

In partnership with local artists and community organizations, cinéKIDZ celebrates imagination, diverse perspectives, and the joy of storytelling while helping children build empathy, confidence, and meaningful connections with one another.

DONATIONS NEEDED 💜

For five years, Grab n’ Flow has worked to ensure our Philadelphia community has free access to menstrual, postpartum, infant, and essential care supplies.

Today, we’re asking for your help.

We currently have funding to cover just two more months of storage costs. Without this space, we can’t continue receiving large product donations, stocking our community sheds, or expanding to meet growing community need.

Read our story and support our campaign on Givebutter through the link in our bio. Every donation and every share helps keep community care growing. 💜
