Ducks Take on the Top Shelf: Banquet Boys vs. the Flock Last night the Ducks skated into hostile territory against the first-place Banquet Boys, hoping to knock a little foam off the league leaders and make a statement worth printing in bold ink. From the opening puck drop, the affair was tighter than a barkeep’s ledger. Sticks were busy, lanes were clogged, and every inch of ice was earned the hard way. The first half read like a goaltender’s sermon, ending deadlocked at 1–1. The Ducks’ lone tally came courtesy of Kurt “The Lumberjack” Peppy, who whittled his way to the net and finished with a silky smooth tuck that had the press box nodding in approval. Between the pipes, JL Russell put on a performance fit for folklore — swatting away Banquet bids like flies at a picnic, keeping the Ducks afloat through wave after wave of pressure. His efforts earned him well-deserved Duck of the Game honours, and likely a few appreciative taps on the helmet. As the night wore on, the Banquet Boys eventually found their groove and poured it on, skating away with a 5–1 victory despite the Ducks’ continued grit, grind, and honest labour. Still, not all losses are written in sour ink. The Ducks left knowing they skated stride for stride with the league’s best — and as the locker room later confirmed, the beer tasted just as good after the game. Next Game: Monday, February 9 — 8:00 PM @ NIC 1 vs. The Moonshine Prime seating tickets still available — come see if the Ducks can sour the Shine.

Plenty of Grit, Plenty of Grief — Ducks Fall After Fierce Fracas Tonight the Ducks squared off against the Spartans, seeking both victory and vengeance after their last pre–New Year meeting. From the opening faceoff, pleasantries were abandoned and the game descended straight into a full-blown border skirmish. The Spartans wasted little time crying foul, hollering and moaning about phantom slew-foots that existed only in their imaginations, while both clubs traded shots like old rivals settling a debt. The Ducks answered with honest effort and heavy legs, including the nightly expected contribution from Cam “Good For One a Game” Booth. The loudest cheer of the evening came when Mike “The Wrecker” Weicker bulldozed his way into the score sheet, tucking home a beauty wraparound for his first goal as a Duck, earning himself well-deserved Duck of the Game honours and a permanent place in the evening’s headlines. Captain Courage came courtesy of Ryan “Buttery Smooth Bertuzzi” Morris, who led by example all night long — defending teammates, bodies, and Duck pride alike. In a turn that shocked the press box, Morris was shown the gate for the unforgivable crime of standing up for himself and his flock… and perhaps giving the opposing netminder a very gentle reminder that the crease is a dangerous place. Between the pipes, JL Russell authored a goaltending performance worthy of folklore, staring down a record 63 shots and turning away chance after chance, standing on his head, shoulders, and whatever else he could find. Despite his heroics, the relentless Spartan barrage proved too much, and they skated away as victors when the smoke cleared. The Ducks may have lost the battle on paper, but they left no doubt they’re ready for the next war. Next Game: Wednesday, February 4 — vs. the Banquet Boys @ NIC 2 Prime seating tickets still available

Hot Start, Hard Bounces — Ducks Come Up Short Against the Dogs The boys in blazing orange took the ice tonight against the Luck Dogs with victory on their minds and fire in their skates. The opening half was a bare-knuckle exchange of goals and grit. Affiliate sparkplug Cosmo was cooking and turned on the stove to served up two goals in a single shift, lighting the lamp so fast the goal judge needed a breather. The Luck Dogs barked right back with three of their own, refusing to roll over. After two more Ducks tallies — including a picture-perfect 2-on-1 bury from Taylor Dean — the horn sounded with both sides deadlocked at 4–4, neither willing to blink. Between the pipes, JL Russell was nothing short of heroic. Flying post to post like a man possessed, swatting pucks aside and denying chance after chance, Russell stood on his head and earned undeniable Duck of the Game honours, much to the delight of the Duck faithful. The second half saw the Ducks continue to paddle hard, but the Luck Dogs found their groove, weaving through traffic with a bit too much dipsy-doodle for the orange brigade to corral. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 8–5 in favour of the Dogs, though the Ducks left no doubt they’d fought to the bitter end. Next Game: Monday, January 26 — 8:00 PM vs. the Rangers @ NIC 1 Prime seating tickets still available — come early, stay loud.

Ducks Fire First, but Gunners Win the Shootout The Ducks locked horns with the Gunners tonight in a hard-nosed affair that had powder in the air from the opening drop. The boys in orange and black came ready to trade shots, but in the end the Gunners had just a little more ammo in the chamber. It took mere seconds for Jake “Digger” Winters to strike, potting the opener before some fans had even found their seats. Winters led by example all night long, digging in on every shift and earning unquestioned Duck of the Game honours. Truth be told, the award could’ve been passed down the bench — Winters’ linemates Taylor Dean and Cam “Good for One a Game” Booth each buried one of their own, accounting for three of the Ducks’ four tallies and keeping the Gunners honest. Kurt “The Lumberjack” Peppy chopped in the final Ducks goal, muscling home a tally with all the subtlety of a man swinging an axe in the slot. Despite the Ducks firing early and often, the Gunners kept reloading. When the smoke cleared and the shell casings settled, it was the Gunners who walked away with the victory, leaving the Ducks to regroup and reload for the next battle. Ducks Claw Back Late, but Manthers Keep Their Stripes The Ducks took to the ice tonight with revenge on their minds, looking to repay the Manthers after gifting them their first victory of the season. What followed was a frantic, feather-flying affair that had the barn buzzing from puck drop to final horn. Both clubs burst out of the gate at full throttle, but it was the Manthers who struck first, swiping the opening tally. After two quick scratches from the big cats, Cam “Good for One a Game” Booth answered the call, feathering in a soft-touch finish that briefly cooled the Manther claws. The pace never slowed. Shots rained from all angles, sticks clashed, and despite the Ducks peppering the Manther net, the luck of the bounce favored the felines. When the first half closed, the ledger read a lopsided 6–1 Manthers, a number that hardly told the full tale. Refusing to curl up, the Ducks stormed out for the second half with renewed gusto. Kurtis Peppy slipped in a silky finish, Booth rallied once more to keep his nightly promise, and Ryan “Buttery Finish Bertuzzi” Morris went to work, burying a top-shelf tuck with blue-collar precision. For his tireless effort and scoring touch, Morris earned well-deserved Duck of the Game honours. The rally, though spirited, fell just short. The Manthers held firm to skate away with an 8–4 victory, but the Ducks left the ice with momentum, pride, and unfinished business. Short on Bodies, Long on Grit: Ducks Open ’26 with a Fighting Feast The Ducks rang in the 2026 portion of the season tonight with a full-throated scrap against the Banquet Boys, skating into the barn shorthanded on the scoresheet but heavy with heart, hustle, and old-fashioned dedication. With just eight brave skaters taking the ice, the tightly numbered flock moved like a well-oiled machine. Tape-to-tape passes snapped, bodies rotated, and volleys of shots were fired at the Banquet Boys’ net as if the Ducks were trying to eat their way through the buffet line rather than around it. Leading the charge was Captain Bryon “Tubber” Bathgate, who set the tone like an unleashed junkyard dog. Tub flew around the ice burying pucks, tallying two goals on the night, including a blistering low-blocker rocket that left no doubt. For his efforts, leadership, and refusal to slow down, Bathgate earned undisputed Duck of the Game honours. Cam “Good for One a Game” Booth stayed true to his reputation, penciling in his nightly contribution, while goaltender JL Russell battled bravely between the pipes, turning aside wave after wave and keeping the Ducks honest through sheer willpower. In the end, the numbers caught up. The Banquet Boys eventually filled their plates, skating away with a 9–3 victory, but not before the Ducks proved that heart, hustle, and unity still count for something in the New Year. The flock may be short on bodies — but long on belief. Next Game: Wednesday, January 7th — 8:30 PM @ NIC 1 Prime seating tickets still available

Ducks Scrap to the Bell, Spartans Skate Off with the Numbers The Ducks closed the books on the pre-holiday schedule tonight with a bruising bout against the Spartans — a contest heavy on heart, hustle, and old-fashioned barnstorming spirit. The opening half was a toe-to-toe affair, with both clubs trading blows like dockworkers at quitting time. Kurtis Peppy uncorked the bottle early, slipping two silky finishes past the Spartans’ keeper to keep the Ducks within striking distance, and the period was finished neatly at 3–2. The second half opened at full throttle. Jake “Digger” Winters clawed the Ducks back within one with a gorgeous back-door backhand, reigniting hope in the orange faithful. But as the battle wore on, so did tempers. Soon, junior equipment manager and blue-line bruiser Justin “Wannabe Jovanovski” Taron found himself in a spirited disagreement with a particularly chippy Spartan. In a scene straight out of a 1920s rink riot, helmets flew, dignity vanished, and order was briefly restored by JT’s firm grip and fiercer resolve. For his sandpaper, spirit, and refusal to be pushed around, Taron earned Duck of the Game honours — a title well fought for. Though energized by the scrap, the Ducks couldn’t quite tip the scales. When the final whistle sounded, the Spartans held the ledger at 5–3. A loss on paper, perhaps — but a moral victory in the hearts of the flock. Now the Ducks head into the holiday break battered, bonded, and ready to feast in the new year. Next Game: Monday, January 5th — 9:45 PM vs. the Banquet Boys NIC 1 • Prime seating tickets still available • Happy Holidays from the Duck Gazette 🦆🎄

Tonight the Ducks took on the Luck Dogs—and despite another stellar performance from JL “Brick Wall” Russell between the pipes, plus two consecutive beauts from Curt Moulder, the Dogs proved too much to handle. The final score may have been recorded as 11–3, but it was 16–3 in our hearts after a gorgeous, silky, dipsy-doodle tuck on a back-door penalty shot—well earned by Taylor “Brendan Morrison” Dean after being hauled down by not one, but two blood-thirsty Luck Dogs while trying to bust out of the zone. TD strutted off with full Duck of the Game honours, and rightfully so. Meanwhile, netminder JL Russell continued his weekly tradition of defying physics, flashing leather, stacking pads, windmilling limbs, and performing a minimum of three miracles per period. Reports indicate he stopped shots from distances ranging from five feet to five galaxies, frustrating the Dogs and delighting the small children in attendance who now believe in magic. But alas, even a goaltending performance fit for a museum couldn’t fully stem the canine tide. Next Game: Monday, December 15th — NIC 2 — vs. the Rangers Prime seating tickets still available!

Gunners Unload the Arsenal, but Ducks Show No Yellow Feathers The Ducks skated into battle against the Gunners tonight, blazing orange and hungry to snap a two-game slide, and for a brief, glorious moment, it looked like the flock had them right in the crosshairs. “Iron Ike” Embree wasted no time lighting the lamp, hammering home a beauty to open the scoring and send the Ducks’ bench into a proper frenzy. But the Gunners, true to name, answered with a three-shot volley of their own, rattling the cage and shifting the tide. Refusing to fold, the Ducks fired back. Dan “The Chimney” Dickenson shoveled one home through the smoke and traffic, before star affiliate Ryan Stacey went full hot-streak mode, burying two of his own to keep the battle raging. Cam “good for one a game” Booth stayed true to his named and contributed a casual flip past the opposing net minder. The prettiest of the bunch came from Owen Standerwick, who walked three defenders like they were lost tourists and slid it five-hole with finesse. Between the pipes, JL Russell put on a performance fit for the front page, turning aside a record 54 shots and earning Duck of the Game honors, standing on his head and flashing leather like a goaltending sorcerer. But even magic has its limits — and the Gunners’ barrage proved too heavy to withstand. When the smoke cleared, the Gunners skated off with a 10–5 victory, leaving the Ducks bloodied, but far from broken. Next Game: Wednesday, Dec 10th vs. the Luck Dogs — NIC 2 Prime seating tickets still available — bring your fire extinguisher, this one should be a barn burner

DUCKS DRENCHED IN MOONSHINE AFTER WEDNESDAY SHOOTOUT Last night the Ducks squared up against the ever-slippery Moonshine, as the flock looked to steady the ship after being clawed apart by the Manthers in their previous outing. The feathers ruffled early after a questionable waved-off goal that would’ve been a sparkling opener from Ryan “44 Beers Bertuzzi” Morris—one that surely had the crowd asking if the officials had sampled a little Moonshine of their own. But trouble brewed fast, and the game escalated quicker than a bar tab on half-price pint night. Randy “Shamus Mogilny” Ried lit the lamp first with a gorgeous dip-and-doodle, kicking off what would become a monstrous evening: two goals, five points, and enough razzle-dazzle to make the old barn shake. The Ducks kept the moonshine flowing with tallies from Jake “Digger” Winters, a pair from Taylor “Brendan Morrison” Dean, and a full-throttle, all-effort snipe from Keagan “The Model” Peppersmith—earning him well-deserved Duck of the Game honours and at least three new admirers in the stands. Special mention to netminder JL Russell, who spent the night standing on his head like a sideshow acrobat — turning aside what felt like 100 shots, flashing the leather, kicking out miracles (check out the toe save in the first photo!), and keeping the Ducks within striking distance Morris capped things with a final upstairs tally that nearly blew the cork off the bottle, but despite the flock’s furious back-and-forth battle, the Ducks couldn’t quite sober up the scoreboard. The Moonshine walked away the victors in a wild 10–7 barn-burner. A huge thank-you to @corey_shawimages for capturing some downright fantastic shots of the boys in orange (photos 1, 3 & 5) —proof that even in defeat, the Ducks look good doing it. Next Game: Monday, December 10th – 10:00 PM @ NIC 2 vs. The Gunners Prime-seating tickets still available. Get ’em before the Gunners do.
