The Frauen-Bundesliga is entering a season of major change, with two historic new arrivals, growing investment and the possibility of a new structure on the horizon.

VfB Stuttgart and 1. FSV Mainz 05 are both competing in the top flight for the first time in their histories after reaching the Bundesliga just one season after promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. Meanwhile, the league continues to grow its audience, with attendance and media exposure increasing alongside investment from traditional football clubs.

There is plenty of talent to keep an eye on too, from Bayern Munich’s Klara Bühl and Alara Şehitler to Union Berlin’s Jella Veit, HSV’s Lotta Wrede and Bayer Leverkusen’s Vanessa Fudalla.

With European places, the DFB-Pokal and Supercup adding to the domestic picture, there is plenty happening beyond the race for the Meister title.

So, what do you need to know about the Frauen-Bundesliga, which teams and players should you be watching, and how can you follow the league from the UK?

In our latest guide, Merit Jaeger breaks down everything you need to know about the 2026/27 Frauen-Bundesliga.
