I spent a week in Minnesota going through suitcases of photographs on the hunt for the best memories of my grandpa, James Duane Tisdell. I ate too many sweets with my grandma, witnessed gorgeous sunsets, and visited the cabin we lived in when I was 11 (cabin visit included running through fields and flashbacks to watching the world premiere of High School Musical 2 on the little tv). Despite the reason, it was a good week reconnecting with family and celebrating the life of a man who spent his free time playing cards and canning vegetables.

So grandpa, I see you riding off into the sunset on your Harley, with a pocketful of Werther’s and a backpack full of homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. Enjoy your endless Westerns in the joys of paradise 🕊️
