Continuing on from my Sunday rant about not giving a shit what society thinks you should or shouldn’t be doing… today’s little yap is about failure, self-doubt, and staying connected to your creative flow (aka my favourite topic)

xx

Failure is okay, since I was young I felt very strongly that failure isnt a negative experience at all, the negative part is getting worked up over what other people think about your failure. If you stopped judging yourself through the eyes of others, you would open up a new world of FUN and possibilities. My friends and family know I’ve tried to make a job out of every creative outlet under the sun. Some stuck, most didn’t, and that’s okay :) There’s no such thing as failure, and the fact that they didn’t work out doesn’t mean anything. Now I know what works for me and what doesn’t, thats all there is to it!

Self-doubt is honestly the only thing holding most people, particularly women, back. I’m here to say THAT YOU CAN DO IT LADIES, JUST TAKE THE LEAP and trust the power of your curiosity to guide you!!! Like right now, I feel like a bit of a dickhead posting this, but it’s something I felt like sharing, so I’m just going to whip it together and hit post. It’s not that deep :). You can either stay uncomfortable for the rest of your life because you’re not expressing yourself… or you can say fuck it and give it a red hot CRACK.

If you need a little help tapping back into the inspirational source, I’d highly recommend reading The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. Every time I feel a lil out of whack, I read a couple of pages and it somehow pulls me back into my fav and most natural state: creative flow + trusting that it will all work out.

One of my fav quotes from the book:

“A river of material flows through us. When we share our works and our ideas, they are replenished. If we block the flow by holding them all inside, the river cannot run and new ideas are slow to appear.

In the abundant mindset, the river never runs dry. Ideas are always coming through. And an artist is free to release them with the faith that more will arrive.

If we live in a mindset of scarcity, we hoard great ideas.” ✨

A lil journal entry about something that is very important to me: leading a life guided by passion, and not listening to what society tells you that you should or shouldn’t be doing. ✨

I always feel very fortunate to be able to turn to my creative outlets: singing, art, making a home and creating something emotionally moving, and somehow call it “work,” especially because of how society projects what is normal and what isn’t.

A lot of people feel like turning to the arts as a career isn’t sustainable because there’s “not enough security” in it. I used to think this too, until a woman at my very corporate prison of a workplace said to me, “Once you start pursuing your passions, the money will flow.” At the time, I honestly thought she was just trying to make me feel better about the fact that I sucked at my job (i did) 🤣 But now that I’m on the other side, I fully understand what she meant.

Ever since I embodied that mindset (and went full woo woo on the whole sitch), my life changed completely. I’ve always had this free-spirited, nonconformist, excitement driven personality inside me since I was a young girl, like most women do. But we grow up in a society that teaches us that work is somewhere you go to suffer a little bit in exchange for security, and the more your suffer the higher you will climb. There’s either work OR there’s fun, but “apparently” you can’t have both. I always thought that whole mindset was very, blah blah blah stfu PLOISE 🤌🏼

Anyways, all I’m trying to say in a very long-winded way is that the world has changed so much, and it’s now easier than ever to create a life that is led by passion.

I have more to say about self doubt and failure, but it’s too long to post here! If you’d like to read my little blog about this topic, I’ve put a link in my bio 🤍
