On Sunday, our group decided to take the road less traveled🤠

Ambitiously we headed down an overgrown trail keeping the waterfall in our sights. After crossing a strong stream at the base of the canyon it became clear that our path was no longer visible and we’d have to scramble. We persisted but eventually surrendered to the bushy obstacles mother nature placed in our way.

I was a bit frustrated because part of my enjoyment in putting hikes together is being able to guide friends to beautiful unknown locations and I felt like I didn’t deliver on this one. We were even having a difficult time finding a place for us to take our backpacks off and unwind.
Thankfully we found a small open area and that’s when it hit me.

I was so focused on chasing a lovely waterfall that when things didn’t go our way I thought the hike was a failure. However I was wrong.

This gathering of busy city people out in nature, away from the noise, responsibilities, and society’s wheel was exactly what we all needed. I looked around and saw complete strangers sharing stories, laughs, and snacks. The setting was perfect, deep in a canyon with no 📱 service, where we could appreciate the break from it all that we forget to give ourselves.

Thank you to everyone that came out and brought the right vibes to partake in such a special moment.
Being immersed in nature, eyes closed, listening to the silence mixed with flowing water and birds chirping, gave me so much life.

Busy humans often get caught up in a chase that leaves us overwhelmed, stressed and exhausted. Our minds become so cluttered that we can’t even remember what we’re chasing after, we just feel compelled to keep running around lol.

I believe in carving out moments like this, to just be.
