Introducing Yasmina Khababi, masterstudent Leadership and Change Management and founder of catering company Freshtable. 🥬

Yasmina had been working in catering industry for at least 10 years. “I always brought my own food to campus and students started asking me to bring them home-cooked food in exchange for money.” And Freshtable was born!

The meals that Freshtable serves, are inspired by the different cultures and ethnicities on campus and in Rotterdam. “You can easily order your meals online to be delivered twice a week. Before, I only delivered in Rotterdam but now we deliver across the country.” All meals have vegetarian and 100% halal options. “You can also choose to add fish or meat. We have something for everyone!"

During her studies, Yasmina was exposed to a lot of societal issues, like inclusivity and sustainability, and she wanted to make a clear connection between all these topics in her company. At Freshtable she facilitates jobs for 'status holders' and people who have a distance to the labor market.

It was very challenging to combine her studies and her business. So, Yasmina applied for the Erasmus 'Talented Student Entrepreneur'- programme, which assists high-potential student entrepreneurs in combining their studies with running their businesses. "At that time, it was said that only RSM students were eligible to apply for this programme. It took me 8 months to get a response, but in the end, I was the first student outside of RSM that was admitted to this programme.”

The most memorable moment for Yasmina was when she was nominated as 'Foodhero' in the top 100 most influential food changers of 2022. There are still many more goals that she would like to achieve. “For the future, I would like to continue spreading the vision that Freshtable makes a bigger impact on inclusion. Since these societal issues are not only of interest in the Netherlands, perhaps Freshtable could expand to other countries in Europe."
