From the founding of the Elizabeth Ryan Foundation, one of our primary goals has been to serve alongside the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department. We could not have imagined that within our first year, we would build such a strong and meaningful relationship with PPD.

On October 10th, Officer Shane Seiber was killed in the line of duty, leaving behind his wife and two children.

In honor of Officer Seiber and in support of his family, the Elizabeth Ryan Foundation will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this design to the Seiber family for the next 60 days.

We ask that you join us in supporting this family as they face an unimaginable loss. It is an opportunity for us to stand together and give back to the family of a man who gave his life in service to others.

We will never forget his sacrifice.

I come back to this thought atleast every other week, sometimes more often. Being in the equipment realm, a maker, keeping my head space there, there's no question that you must stay centered in the work and visit your 'why' as much as possible. This is because the work brings about the process which creates the vision. The vision of risk mitigation, force multipliers, and what truly keeps the dog relevant in this day and age. Without the work, you cannot create.

Our Wednesday scenario played out a ton of different ways today. Everyone arrived on scene with the exact same information. It did not end the same way for everyone.

Words mean things and information is important. It doesn’t matter if you’re law enforcement or military having the intel and using your situational awareness was is key.

On a side note, if you ever want to run from cops become a decoy and volunteer your time. It’s kinda fun.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that Gary will be trained as a Human Remains Detection (HRD) dog.

For the last several years, my career has revolved around patrol dogs, narcotics, explosives, and developing working K9 teams. It’s a field I have poured an incredible amount of myself into, and one I will always love.

But I’ve always believed that growth requires being willing to become a student again.

HRD is an entirely different discipline, and I have a tremendous amount to learn. I’m excited to surround myself with people who have dedicated their lives to this work and learn everything I possibly can.

My goal isn’t simply to train Gary to find human remains. It’s to build a team capable of deploying operationally and helping bring answers to families who have spent far too long without them.

There is something incredibly meaningful about giving a dog a job that has the potential to bring someone home.

So here’s to new beginnings, being a beginner again, and hopefully making a difference in someone’s darkest moments.

Storm took his training on the road last week! 🐾🚔

From water work to navigating public transportation environments, K9 Storm got to experience a little bit of everything during his time at ATK9 in Indiana!

While the rest of the crew was in Alpena, Storm was making his own training memories. 💚
